Also, I had a mango wheat beer, followed by two mimosas at sunset, because fuck the rules, and maybe some wine.

And go figure that getting tipsy would remind me that I need to clean up this place a little.

And TGO, Im looking at a bottle I believe you sent me about 5-8 years ago.
With one lone shot left in it.
It reads, SW 10-10.
Does it hail from Austin?

Cigars in Glasgow? Is there another seat available?

Seriously though, I'm doing very well and I sincerely hope that you are too and those still meandering around here as well!

On a whim, I was thinking about this place and couldn't believe that I remembered my login and pass. And once I got in the door, I could see some glasses sitting around that looked pretty fresh.

Again, absolutely amazing!

Now is Glasgow a vacation or did you say so long to the southwest?

...

Greetings GreenOne.

(Most likely  doesn't work... hell, I've forgotten so much!)

As long as you remember how to drink and how to smoke cigars. That's what counts. At last as long as your drinking and smoking with friends.

Im not excelling at anything important here.
So Im moving to a quaint, quiet, lovely little town with a river running through it.
To live in a flat above a restaurant/pub, as Ive always dreamed.
Where people ask me to say mundane words and then giggle at my accent.
And where a plane ticket to another country costs next to nothing.

As long as you don't have a haggis hanging from a rafter. Seriously, I was lately musing on the possibility of living in a Scottish village, some place where I could walk (not far) to a pub and enjoy a pint of Belhaven or the like. And clearing the fuck out of the U.S.A. for good. Nice to know that someone is seriously entertaining the possibility. Maybe your new place has a couch whereon I can crash for a night or twelve ...

The roaches have been here since the time of the dinosaurs.

They will be right there tussling with Keith over a doughnut in the gutter.

There is a very real mental disorder known was Wendigo psychosis in which the sufferer has insatiable desires to consume human flesh despite the fact that there may be more conventional food sources available.

Better not ask what he wants for dessert.

Like wine - down the sink.

Haven't seen the ravenous movie.

I detect a Gaelic accent rolled into the personal pronouns. Prepping? Nine years is plenty long for absinthe. For anything, really.

I could get downright possessive about them.

Truthfully made me vocalize my mirth

to see what she had done. Ah, love.

Middleburg International absinthe competition and festival will be June 5 and 6. I am hoping you will come, I talked Artemis into driving Eric up and they will join me in judging the absinthe. Ted said he might set up a display or talk and Rene  is donating a generous amount of glasses for the event and he may display some stuff too. I  invited Scott MacDonald and Brian Robinson to join me as judges and they both said yes, Scott provided a lot of input on the judging as well as the events in general.

Almost named it the Middleburg International Louche Fest or m i l f

Fabulous.

Except I prolly won6rt be here much longer.
Back to the States Oct-Jan, then IF I go back, prolly somewhere up North.

But this is definitely a great place to take a little respite from the world.

I have been in contact with Eric, at Kirk's request, about the impending fiesta.

He professes to be excited about it, probably for reasons that have little, if anything, do to with absinthe.

It's a long way off, and I don't like planning things.

For now, Kirk and I and Eric are in agreement that it could be a nice thing.

Please to be enjoying this, on Youtube:

Отава Ё - Про Ивана Groove (русское готическое R'N'B) - Otava Yo

Video links no longer work for me here.

Eric and Kirk are both in that video (not really, they're Russians).  "Otava Yo" is fresh grass growing where grass was previously mowed - apparently it's a

rural reference that's not widely understood even in Russia.  I read some remarks by one of the guys about their videos: "Of course is not reality we are living, but we would like it to be, and we hope that everyone would like to join us".  I know I would like to.  That woman is blazing hot, too - no makeup, cotton dress, no shoes ...

Last Sunday I had a drink of absinthe, the first in prolly several years, and I liked it, so I had another, and chased it with a bottle of strawberry lambic.

The absinthe was courtesy of Kirk, partly in the in the interest of evaluating Mt. Defiance Distillery, but mostly because I've run slap out of people from whom to cadge absinthe, and Kirk is generous (I was pretty excited about the Beekeeping magazines he used for packing!).

The stuff is very good, clean, no faults whatsoever, with quality herbs evident.   Not a bomb in any sense - powerful but restrained, I might say if I were saying something.

Russian new grass revival, almost makes me like Russians again.

I'm looking forward to having you here in Virginia again, I've done a few more things to the place since you were last here.

We have a beautiful house and grounds rented for the judges to evaluate in peace and quite and a huge venue for the public events.

The Judges are

Kirk

Eric

Artemis

Scott MacDonald

Brian Robinson

I formed this particular panel for obvious reasons.

The best absinthe in the competition will not be judged by the mayor or a local celebrity.

I've done some cursory Internet research on Middleburg and was curious about the actual venue, because I don't think you've mentioned it - the spirits barn at the distillery seems interesting enough, but I presume the event itself is elsewhere.  It hadn't occurred to me that the evaluation would occur at a different location, much less in private, but that seems to be a good idea on both counts, and actually makes it considerably more appealing.

As for the Russians, I've always admired them, other than the criminals, of which there is unfortunately no shortage.  In the early 70s I was stationed in Japan, holding a top secret crypto security clearance from the U.S. gummint, and there was a sort of Worlds Fair upcoming on the island, only it was all about oceans, so we American boys were briefed to be on the lookout for Russki agents, who would be at the fair for no other reason than to befriend us for nefarious reasons.  And I went to the fair and sure enough this fellow, looking like Dolph Lundgren, I kid you not, very well-dressed and with almost perfect English, approached me and started feeling me out with obvious questions.  I just told him I didn't know anything about aircraft and was only there for the octopi and he let it go in disgust.  Can't blame them for trying.

The cider barn is pretty good sized with large open grounds and an enclosed herb garden  the distillery, close by and located in town will also be used as part of the venue. The house is outside of town: https://www.airbnb.c...9GIViCbiWE4fSPu

the judges were going to camp out in the train yard around a barrel fire but the organizers wanted to make sure the entries wouldn't get bottle shock.
