My last aquisition is that massive east glass (almost 8 inch high) :

And this Pernod Tarragonna set :

And more importantly, this unique pair of unrecorded Les Trous spoons I bought from Steve Rosat (not the hallmarked which are reversed on both spoons) :

I've been sleeping and drinking a lot since my woman hit Vegas. It's just like the old days... except this time she's coming back (unless she meets up with A.B.- cause we all know what happens when you spend a few nights hitting the town with our illustrious mistress of all things Vegas).

One of the most extraordinary of all absinthe spoons - Les Feuilles #20.
According to the Orfèvrerie Armand Frénay catalogue , it originally cost 3.75fr,
making it one of the most expensive absinthe spoons available, suitable for use in

Aaron painted this and traded it to me for some of my work.
I told him to send me the painting he liked the least or most wanted to get rid of. Instead he painted one that included elements I had asked about, a painting that resonates with meaning for me, and possibly, you too.

Thanks, I didn't think she was going to part with it but the flying monkeys just delivered it to my door, the thing is huge, 2 and half by 3 and a half feet, it's painted on a glazed fabric, looks like camo.
I've given painters a lot of flack, in fact, I've given pretty much everyone a lot of flack, maybe it's because they stood out. Or maybe I just like to cultivate a healthy rivalry. Either way, if I've acted like a victim, (and I know I have) I was just playing possum.

25 years ago, all the trade beads in the U.S. came from Indian reservations or archaeological digs. They were fairly rare and expensive. Now, the same beads are flooding in from Africa, none of the American collectors realized until recently that tons of the beads had been traded for slaves and gold.
Many of the beads go back 400 years and have been strung together for so long that they are nested into each other, the constant rubbing back and forth has worn each bead a nest into the next. There is something about handling this type of artifact that will spark to life the wonder in even the most jaded collector.

They look very nice. May I ask what was wrong with the regular silver? What was wrong with the surface texture.

If you don't care to answer, if it's too much work, etc. That's fine. I just get curious.

Sterling silver is traditionally an alloy of 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper.
Heating the alloy to any useful degree creates a layer of surface oxide called fire scale. A highly polished piece of silver has this layer removed through abrasion. The abrasive process removes much of the detail.
Sterling silver with germanium has the same 925 parts silver but a small part of the additional metals is germanium. Germanium allows a more stable alloy system with little to no surface oxide left over from casting and forging.
