WTF?

This morning, a few hours BEFORE seeing this thread, I turned on Youtube on the living room TV for music while cleaning up the kitchen, as I am wont to do.

And I discovered THIS.

The band will be performing a mix of Zappa classics along with new and rare Zappa compositions.

New?

Dweezil performs his Dad's music; maybe he has composed some - I mean, that could still be called a new Zappa composition.  He can pretty much play all Frank's guitar parts, that's for sure.  Or maybe it's new in the sense of not having been performed previously; Frank no doubt composed a lot of stuff he never played in performance ...

I like the idea there's a medium taking dictation.

A medium as conduit for the extraordinary.

In terms of performance attitudes

Frank and Fripp seem an odd couple.

But I bet they would've wowed

with the improvs had they jammed.

I went to see Frank at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, must have been in 1981.  The Saenger is special - a relic of the golden age of movie theaters.

I was seated in the first row, on the left side.  I could almost touch Frank.  He was touring with a small band, without all the horns and xylophone, etc.  Some synthesizer wizard performed all those parts on a keyboard.  He busted out with Keep it Greasy So it Goes Down Easy, but the rest of the set was very Jazz oriented, which wasn't my thing, still isn't.  Still, it was good to be right there with the maestro.

King Crimson never appealed to me, but Frank could probably have played anything with anybody.

I saw a John Wayne movie there around 1970 - the only movie I saw there - I don't think they showed movies for very long after that - the place was abandoned, refurbished, then destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, then restored again.  I also saw Devo there, and Styx, and Richard Pryor.  I was in the balcony for all of those.  Some guy occupying roughly my seat for Pryor kept getting up and moving around, causing Richard to stop his act and tell the guy that he was in a very special seat.  Yeah, said Richard, that's the seat, that when I gotta go, I take out my dick and piss, right there.  It brought down the house, and the antsy fool didn't budge the rest of the night.

More new music. These sisters

stir up serious sensations.

I saw them play a year ago

and have tickets for the show

they won't be playing next month.

Never-the-less, truly beautiful.

I had tickets for Led Zeppelin in New Orleans.

Robert Plant's child died and they cancelled the show; never played in the U.S. again as far as I know, except maybe in a refurb band that may have been even better, but couldn't be called Led Zeppelin.

Glad you shared those sisters though - that's right up my alley.

It's okay to ogle girls if they're talented, right?

I may have shared Sina before

full stop.

If they're talented

chat 'em up.

Those two qualify.

And they know

how to command the stage.
