Lush Life reserve, (from July, 2009). A good start to a short night.

The best of the range IMO. Blonde is typical, Dubbel is alright but lacks the trappist edge, Tripel is smooth, but there are better of that kind, Quadrupel is very spicy, Isid'or seems to be very edible and velvety. Caramel notes, citrusy and estery beginning. Warm mid-palate and bold herbal finish. Not a thirst quencher, but a good libation for long session. The back label says: "taste the silence" and that sums it up.

Buying Isid'or helps to re-erect the monastery of Trappist monks in Uganda where they are persecuted-all the money goes for the cause, hence the limited availabilty.

Isid'or may be more limited, but instead of throwing money for methanol-poisoners or swill-makers, you can support the noble, ethical cause.

Yesterday we had the following wines: Rioja Antano Cosecha 2007, Old Boatman white/rich (generally a sherry without being fortified and aerated, Pedro Ximenez vine), Węgrzyn, Montaria, Marques de Alicante, Imiglykos Stavros, Recas Castle Huniade, Recas La Putere, Domenille Tohani, Negru de Tohani, Mezzek (all types), Witosha, Bostavan Grand Reserve, Galeria Migdal (Muscat, Chardonnay, etc), Isabella and Lidia, Chateau Rouge Amarante (Macedonia !) and the finest of all-Aurora from Brazil(!): varietal range: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Reserva. There were as well Caduero, Tierra del Fuego, Dogma, several vermouths-Canova, Ciociosan, and flavoured brandies-Scharlachberg cherry, Pliska coffee, Pliska chocolate. Georgia was well-represented, too.

I have brought honey ale distillate, kontuszówka, Macedonian HG rakija, Barbarossa 2011, lemon-coffee rosoglio. Today we shall be opening vintage Grandial VS (1969) and tasting more wines and spirits, liqueurs, what not.

I've had some Bullet Rye recently that is pretty nice. I see more Ryes on the shelves here

which is encouraging including one called "1776."

It is difficult to note down all the news but definitely L'Ancienne 2012, Mead base and RZPR from good friends Martin and Stefano and several others regarding absinthe. Regarding others, there were some brews from Thornbrigde, Kocour (overrated), or Sierra Nevada as well as some vintage tokaji wines plus really nice Bulgarian Oriachovitza reserve 2009 CS.

Good to see Lounge's back!

Red.

My regular haunt has about 30 beers on tap and it isn't unusual around here. This has become a real beer town

with a few local micro-brews as well.  I'll go for the Bavarian and Belgian imports but I mostly drink Rye, Gin or Absinthe.

I haven't had that green stuff in what seems like years. Mebbe one or two glasses a year for the past 3-4 years. Rye, even less. Did have a Tanqueray and Q Tonic the other day...

Q is good but you'd do better with Voyager or Saffire.

Sounds like you need to drink more Absinthe. That pink beer has you posting in Belgican and
