E Todas as coisas ficarão Amargas, prometo-lhe Doces Sonhos.

Bebedor: Agora vejo a Lua embaciada...

Absinto: Sou Fada faceira! Venha! Mais um trago! Beba-me!

E o Bebedor bebeu opalino... e Nada mudou ...

I will not shed a tear for absinthe, but I shed many for the idea of it. I will never "coast through it"; the idea of such sounds less compelling than a swift bullet through the folds.

Afoga-me iguaria francesa!
Lentamente afogue o que eu sinto.
Deixa-me que pereça,
Numa taça de Absinto.

O cigarro ajuda a me matar,
combinando sabor venenoso.
Mas é o Amor por Ela que tira meu Ar,
Ainda que pouco proveitoso.

Se febre sinto ao entardecer,
na mágica hora do Crepúsculo.
Motivo do meu perecer
esse tão voluptuoso impulso.

Afoga-me Verde Fada,
Numa taça de Absinto.
Pois a sentença já foi dada,
Não importa mais o que eu Sinto.

Forgive me, Sir! The problem is: this is a “kind of poem”; so, if I translate these words I am putting here, all these words and rhythm will lose the feeling of the other language. This other language is Portuguese, my mother language. If the owner and moderators of this forum allows me to continue post this kind of words, I will do! I respect your language; do not have doubt about it. Nevertheless, it is hard to me write and understand English; I always do a big effort to do my best. I never studied your language before, Absinthe made it necessary. I hope you understand my position.

Don't you like poesy?

See you later!!! Cheers!!!

Drown me French delicacy!
Slowly drown what I feel.
Leave me to perish,
In a cup of Absinthe.

The cigarette helps to kill me,
combining poisonous tastes.
But it is the Love for Her that takes away my breath,
Still not much profit in it.

If I feel fever from the sunset,
in the magic hour of the Twilight.
Cause in me to perish
that one so voluptuous impulse.

Green Fairy drowns me,
In a cup of Absinthe.
So sentence is already passed,
It matters only I Feel.

That's certainly not completely right, but it's probably pretty close. And I'll continue to post in any language that suits me. Don't like it; skip over it. In this dead-ass forum, as at Fee Verte, it's a happy occasion when anybody posts in any language. Thanks for the poem, Seth.

But I've never seen anything but English there.

Maybe there's a rule against foreign languages, or even a be happy rule.

I look at foreign language posts as a challenge, or a puzzle to be solved. Sometimes there's a reward, such as with that poem (first time I've ever translated Portuguese, that I can remember). It doesn't HAVE to chap your ass.

Thanks Artemis for translation. Yes, I wrote this poem; like the "dialog" that opens the topic. I have others (poems and thoughts), not many, but is all about a broken heart... These here are more, how can I say? More "abstract" and "interpretative"... Furthermore, is about Absinthe too...

Seth, I think your poem is very good. There is a current thread at the Fee Verte forum about poetry in various languages. With your permission, I would like to post your poem there. If you have any suggestions or corrections for the English version I posted (mostly a software translation), please post them, or send me a PM.

I agree with Loogie that foreign language posting by Americans is tedious. That done by people in thier home language is not and should always be welcome. Reading translated poetry is like using a condom -- something is lost in the process. At least seeing the original one can appreciate the music and sound of the words as written.

All your opinions will be carefully considered, and then I'll do what I want. I urge everybody to do the same. It's the American Way.

There doesn't seem to be a section for talking about the workings of the board, so I'll ask it here. I checked my PMs and I see that all but the one on top are marked with a red/white "deleted" tag. They aren't actually deleted (at least the one I checked wasn't). I didn't mark them for deletion, and I certainly didn't attempt to delete them. I keep PMs forever in case I need to blackmail someone. Just wondering how those tags could have got on there ...

Thanks all!

And Artemis, yes, off course you can post the poem there. I have a suggestion on the last two lines of the poem (just to keep the intention of the poem):

"Green Fairy drowns me,
In a cup of Absinthe.
The sentence has been given,
no matter what I Feel."

The title of the poem is : "Drowning in the Green"

And, please put my name in the poem. One or two of you knows my name, for those who do not know me, my name is Aislan Souza.

PS: I recorded this poem in audio. I know you'll not understand, but it is only to hear how portuguese sounds. (http://vocaroo.com/i/s0obBogN7hsC). (sleepy voice!!!!) hahaha...

É assim o Amor?
Ou foi uma Fada que passou?

Eu sei como começa!
Eu sei como termina!
A princípio o perfume:
Doces, Flores, Frutas, Mistérios.

Percebo um aroma que pode Doer.
No primeiro Beijo, amas e odeias.
O sabor é doce no começo!

“Let me be mad, then, by all means! mad with the madness of Absinthe, the wildest, most luxurious madness in the world! Vive la folie! Vive l'amour! Vive l'animalisme! Vive le Diable!”
― Marie Corelli, Wormwood: A Drama of Paris

Um Poeta precisa de uma Musa.
De uma Musa e de um Condão.
Das palavras mais poéticas que ousei pronunciar,
sussurrei-as no ouvido Dela.
Vazio...

Lord almighty
I feel my temperature rising
Higher, higher
It's burning through to my soul

Girl, girl, girl
You gonna set me on fire
My brain is flaming
I don't know which way to go, yeah

Your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
I feel my temperature rising
Help me, I'm flaming
I must be a hundred and nine

Burning, burning, burning
And nothing can cool me
I just might turn into smoke
But I feel fine, yeah

'Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like a sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love

[| From: http://www.elyrics.n...ove-lyrics.html |]
It's coming closer
The flames are now reaching my body
Please won't you help me
I feel like I'm flipping away

It's hard to breath
And my chest is a-heaving
Lord almighty
I'm burning a hole where I lay

'Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love

Burning love
Burning love
Burning love
Burning love

I'm just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love

And I'll continue to post in any language that suits me. Don't like it; skip over it. In this dead-ass forum, as at Fee Verte, it's a happy occasion when anybody posts in any language. Thanks for the poem, Seth.

I posted here but should've posted in one of those Felix threads..I'm not saying I dislike foreign languages, just not all over the forum. Mods can you set up a foreign language section and all of the foreign language posting you want to post can be posteded. I know Seth's first language is not English and there is nothing wrong with that. Most of the world doesn't speak English as a first language if at all. English is the minority. Whatever. All I'm saying is..this is an English (or rather an 'merican language) forum; I don't have time to either skip over or through or around all of the "other" language posts; and I don't have the time to run it all through a transmogrifidulator to understand it. With that foreign language section I can mark it as read with one click of the mouse. And yes Arty this forum is pretty much dead, but that language stuff was completely killing it for me. Sorry. And thank you.

I wonder what killed it for everyone else? Seriously. Fee Verte, too. Understood, but I hope you understand that screwing around with languages was a way of trying to breath a little life into it. In case anyone has failed to notice, I didn't carry out my threat, and reverted to strictly English. I'm not trying to piss anybody off on purpose, at least not long term.

For what it's worth, what Bognoz posted above is roughly:

Why are Americans so provincial?

I was going from memory (a dangerous venture for me with one item, much less three), as I had already closed the translator when I posted that. Revisiting, it seems that "not at the head table" might be more accurate. But I see that v čele has the sense of "in the lead"? These vampire languages are so confusing.

Not really, but it made for more of a nod and a wink than a public display, I would miss this more, even though it appears like less.

For LoogieLicker not feel so tedious, this one for Van Gogh birthday, I'll post in english ....

In memory of the great painter!
For me an Absinthe bitter.

Everybody die. We cannot escape.
Most of us will be forgotten.
Some of us will live forever.

Live and let die ...

PS: Forgive me Van Gogh, I am not a poet.

Hoje, como Orfeu me sinto.
Estou sozinho, não minto.
Traga-me mais uma taça de Absinto.

Nem Lua há para uivar!
Está chovendo. Sempre está ...
Que a Fada Verde venha me salvar!

Nuvens negras no céu e no pensamento.
E o peito ardendo, Coração em tormento
que não quer abrandar. (...)

Sem Eurídice, Orfeu nada é.
Sem a Flor eu perco minha fé ...

E de rima pobre em rima pobre,
vou seguindo meu Caminho,
até que nada mais me sobre.

Por favor, outra taça de Absinto ...

Green Hour Reverie

In this orb of destruction, tears and grief
I take a pause to find releif

Drop by drop water slowly
into emerald nectar blooms
the cumulous spirit
of woe's surcease

O cloud of joy
and respite!
O heaven of
Artemis and Anise!

I raise my goblet at dusk
and praise with delight
all things of beauty and ease
Drinking for medicinal reasons.

You may say I'm a drinker
but I'm not the only one.

A school marn from old Mississippi
Had a quim that was simply zippy

The scholars all praised it

Till finally she raised it

To prices befitting a chippy.
