Check out "Roger and Me," new to DVD and Michael Moore's first movie. I understand that many people are turned off by Moore's grandstanding and self-promotion, but this was his first movie.

At that time he was a bit more humble and unsure. The movie explores the closing of GM plants in Flint Michigan during the 70's. New GM plants were opening in Mexico as fast as American plants were closing. The movie shows the devastation of the city of Flint as ten's of thousands of jobs were lost.

Moore attempts to get the CEO of GM, Roger Smith, to visit Flint to see the consequences of his business decisions.

I can understand why some may believe that "Bowling for Columbine" was not a documentary in the strictest sense. But, understand this, there is no controversy, "Roger and Me" is an extraordinary documentary, not to be missed. This movie foreshadows the future of the United States under NAFTA and WTO, as the working class of our country slip into third world living conditions.

This DVD is relevant now more than ever. Watch it.

A) Is my answer.

It's a spot for movie geeks, who wouldn't have seen it who'd seen Bowling for Columbine.

Louchie forgets that I live about 25 miles from where 'Roger and me' all took place. Also, REGARDLESS of ones beliefs and politics, anyone would hate a movie after having it as class assignments not once, not twice, but THRICE throughout high school and college. Living where I do (auto-central), and then going to school at Wayne State University (engineering school, very liberal/socialist history and leanings), and being near Flint all combine to make 'Roger and Me' become some kind of holy grail for new college profs.

I've seen that movie more times than anyone in here, I'd be willing to bet. If I have to watch that lady skin the rabbit one more time, I'm gonna hurl.

How about a little perspective?

There actually was quite a controversy regarding Roger & Me! Som critics has pointed out Moores, hmmm, very creative use of continuity (or lack off)...

I don't know if he's that much of a great documentarist, but he sure is a funny satirist!
