Thanks Abby, for reminding me that I love seasons and that I'm glad I don't live in the desert.
I feel better now.

Well, the 20th is the first day of Spring, but it's a bit early in these parts.
Today: 2 doors and 2 windows open (screens shut to keep out the dregs).

We have seasons here in the desert, LC.
March 1 - October 31= Summer
November 1 - January 15 = Fall
January 16-31 = Winter (this is when I have to scrape frost off my windshield in the morning)
February1-28/9 = Spring

Ended up w/at least 6" (I wish) using the
birdbath measuring method. Still hasn't
turned all shitty lookin' in the yard. The
last hurrah of winter. And, I got out of
work early as hell to spend time w/my
buddy.

We're supposed to get 6-8" more tomorrow and Friday.

A couple of years ago(2001) , I flew out to Phoenix in January and then drove back to FL.
Froze my ass off! Packed like it was a desert (expected hot weather).
Remember freezing in downtown Tempe at Fat Tuesday's ,in shorts, drinking frozen daquiris
New Mexico wasn't any warmer and the wind cut right through you.

You were a stone's throw from my house.
And, yes it gets cold here. But it's a dry cold which makes it feel colder than it is.

Wish I'd know you folks then. Hey, what's of the name of that microbrewery/restaurant downtown --with the outdoor seating on the upperlevel and , to me; resembles an artdeco? type club one might find in Berlin.

Yes! Got a couple of pint glasses from there. Wish I'd gone back there. Instead, I went to the sushi bar across the street on my trip back there a few months later

You should've gone to Long Wong's. Just a bit up the street. Best wings ever. A local institution for music. And come April 3, gone the way of the dodo.
If you're ever in the area again and you're looking for a good microbrewery, go to Four Peaks.
Gordon Biersch is a chain, by the way. There's even one in Miami.

Been there loved it! Was trying to drink microbrews and eat nachos there at 3am ( my local body time) the night I flew in. I also have a few pint glasses and T-shirts fm there too. That place was the best, but I had a hard time finding it (both times I've been there).

Yep, I lived in Ahwatukee...otherwise known as "close to Phoenix". And the year I was there...about 3 years ago...It snowed in Scottsdale. I thought that was quite interesting.
Coming from NOLA, the city of Phoenix was quite a culture shock. I'm used to green grass and trees. Nary a blade in Phoenix...just rocks and cactus' etc.
I remember Long Wongs...saw some interesting punk/Elvis type bands there. Gordon Biersch had some bad garlic fries...if I remember.
Anyone know Cafe Boa? That was the only place that had a dish closely resembling anything like home...called Voodoo Pene. It was quite good.

A friend of mine had a birthday dinner there a few weeks ago. And I believe I had the Voodoo Penne. Either that of my friend sitting next to me ordered it. In any case, I had some. It was good but it could've used some andouille sausage.

My lil' brother & his wifey are flying to N'Awlins today. I'm very jealous. I told him to bring me back a muffuletta from Central Grocery. I still have dreams about those things...

I had to have a friend stop off in New Orleans on a road trip across country to bring me some.

I'd rather Boudin (boo-dan). Both are plentiful here.
Say hi to Scott, the owner of Cafe Boa, next time you're there. He's a good guy and tell him you want to join the "Wine tasting" party list...if you like that sort of thing.

Is he more likely to be found at the Sort of Phoenix one or the Downtown Tempe one?

He is at the Ahwatukee location. Tall dude.
The downtown Tempe one is his former co-owner...it is less of a classy joint and doesn't host the same parties, etc.
