Parkay...

Apr 6 2004, 05:57 AM
"Dear Parkay Inc.,
Forgive my frankness, but I think margarine is swill. It is both bland and joyless. If, say, margarine were a high school student, it would be the manager of the junior-varsity water-polo team. It would have a wispy black goatee, do a lot of secret cape-wearing, and have elaborate and multi-sensory masturbation rituals. I'm sure you know the type. Margarine is at the end of its rope, no kidding. So this is what I propose: Bargarine. Butter + margarine. Think about it. Butter has so much more versatility — in cooking, and… well, let's face it, butter just fucking rocks. Remember that product that combined peanut butter and jelly in one jar? Goober? Do they still sell that? It dominated, if memory serves me. I think the commercial version of Bargarine should be structured in a similar manner, with butter and margarine swirled together in one tub. I firmly believe that this product will, to put it bluntly, rape the diary marketplace with its awesomeness.
My early test-tubs of Bargarine were primitive (constructed mostly by cramming a stick of butter into the middle of a margarine tub), but I have a feeling that your sophisticated machinery and churning talents can fully actualize the potential of this idea. You may purchase the brand name and idea of Bargarine from me for a mere 6,000,000 USD. Be aware that, as a precaution, I have also trademarked the names Mutter, Mutterine, Butterine, and This is too Goddamn Good for Words. My attorneys' names are Greg and Todd."

Playing now is 80's bands with
female singers. The best is
Colourbox - their music doesn't
really compare to songs about
Egyptians, obsessions or vacationing.
I loved the 4AD label and the 80's.

Everything goes full circle. Ecstasy went from non-illegal to very illegal Now there is an FDA approved clinical trial to see if it has therapeutic use.
On the other hand, no This Mortal Coil always has therapeutic use.

my musical taste rules...
i worked in record stores for over ten years, so i have amassed quitee the retarded record collection (yes! VINYL!!!)
high fidelity could have been written about me...
i attach way too much significance to music.
and here are a few songs that i love, without shame, even though i get teased relentlessly:
abba-anything really...i'm a sucker for a perfectly crafted pop song
and in the same vein as above, neil diamond, tom jones, and the monkees...
toto-africa----makes me feel like i'm out in the serengeti!
kansas-dust in the wind---i really can't explain this one, but when i was in a band, i would play that song on my guitar just to annoy the lead singer, and that made it funny...
by default, i'm a rock chick, so it's hard to find stuff i DON'T see some redeeming factor in...
but i F*CKING HATE STEELY DAN and will leave any establishment in which steely dan is in the air...i get really really mad about steely dan.
really.

ABBA is indeed a band that I love, though many people seem to think that I should be ashamed of it. Well, fuck them. "The Day Before You Came" is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written, and "Eagle" is a majestic masterpiece.

My secret shame? I found Adouche Streisand amusing for at least his first 3 posts.
On the other hand, ABBA is, and always will be, COOL. They are so cool (or hate each other sooo much) that they turned down a reported $1B to do a reunion tour. If that ain't COOL, I don't know what is.
Meanwhile, the guys from Poison accepted an offer of $1 and an Egg McMuffin to do a reunion tour. NOT cool.

And the next time Louchelooker brings his CD case over - I'm gonna bury it in the cats litter box. They will have a field day with it. Any surviving CDs will be made into altered CD art.
