I only had one little drink last night.
I had a small glass of whiskey as a sleep aid.
Which I wouldn't have needed if I wasn't stirred from my peaceful slumber by Barenaked Ladies doing their rendition of Duran Duran's Rio about 1/4 mile away.
Sounded like they were in my backyard.

One glass of HG down. This batch might even be good enough to share.
Now for beer. Scottish Wee Mild. I never noticed how much of a smokey flavor WY1728 could throw. Nice effect.
This almost tastes like it has smoked malt in it.

Cleaned all evening (dad's coming tomorrow).
Now sampling my very first MM.
It smelled strongly alcoholic in the bottle but it's very mellow in the glass.

In all honesty, it's just about as good as the MACALLAN 18.
Speaking of which. I did have a few glasses of the Glenlivit 18 the other night. It's good, better than the regular "The Glenlivit", but it's not really worth the price. YMMV

Ahh, cask strength Single Malts.
Never had the Macallan cs, it is rather young (10 yrs)
afaik.
Another great bottling
(only 312 bottles available)
NOT filtered, directly from the cask.
First fill Oloroso Sherry cask,
look at THAT color.

This is a tippin' and typing thread right? I just want to be honest now. I am doing a White Fairy/Red Bull mix. All right, all right, don't start with the shooting and flaming and stuff. Has anyone ever tried it? Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. It is pretty tasty. The RedBull takes away the need for sugar and you don't have to wait for the drip. I am using a Pernod repro glass and using the bottom line for the WF and the top for the RB. It is kinda good. O.k. have at it.

How was the ratio?
kingdubhda
Mar 19 2004, 05:06 PM
Jack, The ratio was perfect. I like the fact that the sweetness ofthe sugar was present but not too much. I think that I can appreciate the taste of the absinthe a lot more at the new ratio.....
Thanks for the info.....I am sure that it actually improved my ability to appreciate the taste of ET 9. Also, with the smaller amount my bottles will last longer!

Damned memory may mistake me, but I think it went like this:
NS-55 -- A good start to any evening.
Fou-Juice -- haven't had it in about a month -- still good, but not great, by any means.
Styxsinthe -- Funky, unrefined, post-production grappa added. Tastey in heavy amounts, and better than Fou-Juice.
Swizzlé Rouge -- Refined, sweet, creamy, and as tastey as it ever has been -- excellent!
Gottsa be up early, this is the end of all ends on this end. Roger, over and out.

--ET #12.
Monsieur Thomas has the consistency nailed. It tastes almost exactly like the #9, which I thought was very well balanced. It's a simple Verte with a pleasant flavour, basically a modified Pontarlier I think. There are clearly no flaws in the process and that buttery wine thing that previous ET samplings prior to #9 had is gone. Good stuff, very drinkable.
--Swizzlé
This is a new Swizzlé, though not the newest one, and it's only 1 month old, but I gotta say DAMN! It's the best Blanche absinthe I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, there are many fine well made HG blanches out there, but this new Swizzlé is my personal fav. Got lots of very high quality fennel, a great alcohol base, and this deep rooty flavour that goes on forever and ever.
It even got the GFs seal of approval. This new Swizzle is da shizzle.
I'm tipped.
