The Colonel

Today, being the twentieth day of the month of March, spring is dawning....
And up here in the Great White North, guess what...? It's snowing.
Hello from up here in CanuckyFuckyLand. Montreal in the beautiful province of Quebec to be exact.
This being my first foray on this board, I however consider myself to only be somewhat of a slight newbie. I have been experimenting with the three availeable types of absinthe/pastice that are availeable up here.
These being Absente, Versinthe, and the ubiquitous Hill's. I do however have two bottles of Versinthe La Blanche on the way from Spirit Corner.
Of the three I have tasted, I prefer the Versinthe pastice. What I'm really looking for here is a little guidance into what you guys would consider the "good stuff".
I've read alot about MoonMan, and the stuff you guys tag as HG (Hapsburg?). Where and how can I get my hands on them? I've already decided that my next purchase is going to be a couple of bottles of UE 68 from LdF.
Anyhoo...I hope I don't offend anyone with my lack of posting experience. You'll just have to bear with my while I get my sea leggs so to say...
And if there are any other canucks out there (especially quebecers) let me know!

Greetings from a fellow Can-adian!
It's sad to see that you've tried Hill's but I suppose suffering through a few glasses will help us appreciate the good stuff more.
Also: if you are planning on ordering from LDF I'd say mix up the order a bit; order 1 UE 68 and a Fougerolles. "Variety is the spice of life!" so they say.

Hello and welcome. Yes with LDF you are definately on the right track. Try the VdF 72 absinthe...they have new version out now which is better than the earlier version.

Well, I guess I've been louched by the Lounge Lizards...
Someone tell SpongeBob that I've got picture's of myself in combat gear too.
So, until I've got more drunken ramblings to share with the rest of you...
Thanx for having me.

Hey Steven,
That wasn't me in the combat gear, I just liked the patch on the guy's arm.
I'm not really the combat type, my Dad was in the army, he retired as a sergeant major. If you've ever seen the drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket you've seen my pop. I had enough of army stuff when I was a kid. I actually think I deserve vet benefits.
Anyway, welcome and thanks for doing the combat thing for those of us who don't want to.

Why do they pronounce Colonel as if it had an 'r' in it?
Hey Steven.

I wish I could find the fucker who made up all the spelling and grammar rules so I could give him a nice sound ass kicking.
You know one of those all day country ass whoopins, as RD Mercer would say. Better pack a lunch.

You know I'm still too amazed at the fact that he's so good at the grammar and spelling of a foreign language (to him).
It's like beating up Rainman because he's so good at math. I'd just rather watch him do his annoying magic.

So Colonel, are you a real colonel, or do you just like chicken?
BTW, I just figured out why they spell colonel that way. It contains the word colon, one end of which is an asshole.
Not a jab at you, just an observation.

I'm probably one of the few folks around here that likes VLB, especially for making my eye-openers that I call " Kaffe Versinthe".
I've already decided that my next purchase is going to be a couple of bottles of UE 68 from LdF.
Since I'm running low on VLB, I've been using the UE68 for the eye-openers the last few days. I personally, like the Gentiane best.
Anyways, welcome to the forum,eh!

Most excellent.
It's not a fairy penguin (a.k.a. Linux "Tux"), and it's not green, but since many over here finds my current avatar too menacing and is calling me sixer anyway...
Just let me get it into gimp at home. I'll leave it blue, in deference to the lounge colour scheme, and because I'm liking Blanche absinthes almost as much as Vertes these days.
