I'm sitting here at work contemplating whether or not I want to finish my few remaining ounces of Lemercier tonight. I'm jonsin' for a drink, but being dry between orders really sucks. I actually just made an impulsive move...one bottle of Oxygenee from the Frenchman to hold me over until the Vertrieb Lion rolls in. I haven't yet tried Oxy. Did I choose poorly?

The new Oxygenee isn't even absinthe. It's not distilled, I don't think there's any a. absinthium in it, and it tastes like licorice flavoured corn syrup mixed w/ rubbing alcohol.

I bought a bottle last year and took one drink out of it and there it sits.
I knew it was xit but I bought it any way just so I'd know what xit tastes like. I wasn't disappointed.
I didn't think it tasted like Scope , just watered down absinthe with too much mint.

It takes balz™ to drink it. You won't have any left by the end of the bottle.

Guess I'll be savin' the Oxy for those "acquaintances" who keep buggin' me for a taste. Hopefully it will turn them off to Absinthe, and they'll quit pesterin' me.

If you like other anise drinks too, it can help to have a bottle of good quality pastis onhand.

I found a really great one recently. Unfortunately it's not terribly cheap either.

There is a generous amount of angelica and cardamom in it, and the anise and licorice flavors are somewhat restrained, making it fairly dry and aromatic (though it's still sweet compared to an absinthe).
