The Misfit Absinthe Forum > The Town Square > The Absinthe House
1888
Well... this is it.

Real life, once again, has called and my time here is all but over. Of course I'll be stopping in from time to time to read a bit, but for the most part... nopity.gif it's been a long, fun road!

So, I've got 2 more riddles and that'll be it... then its off to the retirement farm!

I do want to thank everyone who has made this place such a fun part of our virtual world... LL, DS, Cros, Fluff, CG, Rimmy, Faustus, Jack, Balz, Larry, Abs1900, Spongey, Peeps (wherever you are), DG, Smutty (if you're still around)

I know there's a lot more of you... kimouss.gif

So anyway.

It's time to Ramble On.
1888
WHAT IS IT THAT YOU SAID?!

It's about 3:00pm EST!... you just get home and you turn it on.

You know the time, you know the channel... thank God for cable TV!

The anticipation rises... I love NY!

Here we go... today I think I just may pick up the phone!
1888
And now... the finale farewell riddle. river.gif

The GRAND PRIZE... the big one!!!

For this one you may have to be a bit stretchy and creative!

Here goes...

(Spongey and Gertz... fear not, your prize is heading your way!)
1888
The book "DaVinci Code" talks a lot of the Knights Templar...

How can you connect the Knights Templar to Absinthe?

Remember... creative and 'stretchy'.

Good luck all! wave.gif
DGLeadbetter
I've got two guesses ....

1. The knights adopted the red cross on the the white robes, much like the swiss emblem you see on absinthe suisse labels?

2. The Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Inc and the La Fee eye?

DG
DGLeadbetter
Or better yet .....

Artemesia arborescens is a morphologically highly variable species (or mixture of species) with gray-green to silver leaves. It is native to the various habitats of the Mediterranean region, where it occurs as a shrub to one meter in height. According to popular folklore, the plant was spread by Moorish invaders and Knights Templar during the times leading up to the Crusades. THUJONE!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING! was prominent, however the chromatogram was different from A. absinthium (wormwood).

Did I win, did I?

1 riddle down 1 to go!
1888
Its thought that the Templars helped to give rise to the country of Switzerland (and without Val de Travers... where would we be?!)

1. The founding of the embryonic Switzerland conforms exactly to the period when the Templars were being persecuted in France.

2. Switzerland is just to the east of France and would have been particularly easy for fleeing Templar brothers from the whole region of France to get to.

3. In the history of the first Swiss Cantons there are tales of white coated knights mysteriously appearing and helping the locals to gain their independence against foreign domination.

4. The Templars were big in banking, farming and engineering (of an early type). These same aspects can be seen as inimical to the commencement and gradual evolution of the separate states that would eventually be Switzerland.

5. Even the Swiss don't really know the ins and outs of their earliest history (or suggest that they don't.) They are famous for being secretive and we don't have to tell interested readers that this is something they share absolutely with the Templars.
6. The famous Templar Cross is incorporated into the flags of many of the Swiss Cantons. As are other emblems, such as keys and lambs, that were particularly important to the Knights Templar.

7. The Swiss were and are famous for their religious tolerance - and so were the Templars.
DGLeadbetter
Hooray for me!

Um, just so I'm clear ... which answer won?

Bob, it's not cheating .... it's called researching the question.

Real life, once again, has called and my time here is all but over.

Real life just called me.

and his name is Digits.

All is well, he's been busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking competition. He was actually in his semi truck when he called, so I made him toot the horn for me. I still get a kick out of that xit..... that ruled, man.

On the cool-cool front, his baby girl is turning 2 in two weeks, so he's psyched and busy.

He said to say HI to everybody and told me how he found out recently that he had a lot of from the Land of Bogs ancestry he didn't know about.

Louchie - he also told me your response to that...funny xit!

We made plans to make plans to go out to lunch when he gets a free minute...which doesn't sound too promising with his new 6 day work schedule. But hopefully we'll get together soon & I can talk at him for another hour or so.
Louched Liver
Punch him in the crotch for me.
balzdeep
And let him know that I'm a little worried about this emerald empress thing -- I mean, what if she came back. I don't think I could hack-it by myself. I mean, I'm just one man, and I have a cow licking my but, and peeps is gone, and I just don't know what would happen if she made it to detroit, and ...
Louched Liver
That fuckin' puppet is dead.
Got it?
balzdeep
Puppet's suck! Real, live, horny wimmin' making their way to Detroit, now that's a different story!
Bumpferret

Come back soon, Dige. You are missed.

DG
Sponge Bob
I got a couple of packages today. One from Digits and the other from the Monkey.

The DG package deserves its own thread so I'll only talk about the Digits prize right now.

First the picture:
Sponge Bob
Well I can tell you I was a bit surprised at the nature of the prize.

Now anytime I get urine in the mail I generally open it and take a big whiff. This particular urine had an unexpected pungent tanginess quite unlike other urine I've received in the past.

The donor must have had liver and kidney problems, because there was also a strong odor of alcohol in the sample.

I'm not in the general habit of tasting strange urine samples, but I just had to give it a try. I took a little nip from the bottle and was quite pleasantly surprised. The urine tasted remarkably of HG, and a pretty decent one judging from the quick nip I took from the bottle.

Anyway, thank you Digits for your generous gift.
