I decided this deserves its very own thread, instead of being corrupted by the ill-fated SWLF '04 karma.
Tucson has this:
All Souls' Processionand this:
Tucson Puppet WorksAND this:
Flam Chen!
How about a GT timed with the procession? (Usually November 1, since that's All Soul's Day.) Then we can dress up and all that good stuff. It's like Halloween for grownups, twisted and a bit macabre.
Plus, the weather is cooler, and its the off-season so flights and motels are cheaper. A good time for creative weirdos from all over to come to Tucson, eh?

Very cool stuff Trainer,
The Day of the Dead and the Flan Chin seem to be made for the goth absinthe drinking crowd. Hell, I guess if you were to drink absinthe at the Flan Chin event they'd probably help you to light your sugar cube on fire.
The puppet works.. Hmmm
Maybe Abby could bring Dr. 0 and have him entertain the crowds by drinking battery acid, or God forbid even his own HG.

She could have her very own Yammering, nattering nutjob puppet . . . give everyone a chance to ram a fist up his ass!!

Those are some disturbing puppets.
I don't think I could take being surrounded by those.
I'm already going to have nightmares.

. . . and you call yourself abnormal??
Besides, Winnie's forum crashed. You need to demonstrate your puppet-master skills SOMEWHERE!

Clowns, puppets, freaky dolls.
I get squinky around all of them.
Shakey with sweaty palms.
Two years ago on my birthday, my best friend
went nuts with that theme and bought me
a scary clown painting, a freaky mask, a hobo clown
planter, and just when I thought it was over, I
came home to find this on hanging from
my front porch light:

No.
That would mean digging in the closet for it.
And then it would mean that I'd have to touch it.
And then I'd have to see it in here.

Hmm...
The only thing more unnerving than that clown doll, is the fact that my grandmother thought I might want it.

OK, THAT clown IS unnerving.
But I think the best way to get ABBY over her fear of puppets is to have her help BUILD one, and then wear it in the procession.

You got that right trainer.
My grandmother is a sweet lady with absolutely no sense. She used to buy me the most girly clothes for Christmas. I'm not sure what her trip was, but at least my parents never made me try them on. I have flashbacks to that kid in the pink bunny suit in Christmas Story.
Anyway, a couple of years ago she gave me that doll. She said she thought I'd like it because it looks like my cousin. (it looks nothing like my cousin, more of her weird logic)

There's a fiercely disturbing

halloween clown costume.
The make-up might as well have
arrows aimed toward my mouth.

Heck, ABBY wussed out on HER picture . . . Who knows, if it was scary enuff, I might have liberated it from her closet!
I don't have any pictures.
Oh, I do have the picture I bought about 14 years ago from the prison art fair, but no clowns or puppets in that. It lives in the garage now. Nobody will buy it.
So, who all is gonna come make puppets and such? I'm gonna post this over at feeverte, too.

Nah, the prison art fair was hosted in the Capitol in Albany every year. They sold prisoners' work to free people.

There's an equally disturbing picture of me dressed as a turkey in my third grade Thanksgiving play. I've tried to block the event from my memory, but the picture exists to remind me. No wonder I am a geek...and no you can't see the picture.
