Full Version: Emile Blanche

I've had about 2 oz's of Emile's Blanche laying around and tonight I thought to finish it off. I've had this for about a year and a half, maybe just a little longer. So I prepared it as normal and found it to be not so good.

I can't explain to you why but the only word I could come up with was 'chalky'. In addition to that it was a bit medicinal tasting as well. I don't remember it being like this so I was a little surprised.

To get this taste out of my mouth I finished a 1.5oz super secret HG that was given to me by a friend of mine some time ago. I forgot the name of this HG but I do believe it was called ABSINTHE.

Right. So, I'm glad I had this super secret HG because it was very good, smooth and tasty and did the job of getting the pasty Emile taste out.

And that's all. Drunk.sml

Remember, in this time and season, the other thing that helps to get that "chalk" "over-refined" "commercial based-alcohol" taste out of your mouth is the helpful Peep?! That delicious sugar-coated taste of Heaven will make even the sourest of tastes turn sweet. I find them best slowly burned over a glass of La Fee, slowly drippin' with those small flames attached, me thinking "Don't burn, don't burn, please Jesus let me keep my ugly face the way it is.."

Anyways, I love peeps. And remember folks, surgery on peeps ain't all it's cracked up to be! Please eat them head first and put them out of their misery quick!!!!!

I remember a day when there was a "delete this post" option. THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!
Crosby
I still have it, saves my ass all the time.
balzdeep
Grrrr. That was awesome. I remember a day when this post, and my previous within this thread, might be strucken from all public accord. But sadly, all times pass, and folks are abut with those whe srike them with words, although uneeded, are also blatenly added just to add onto a....pheww, that's it for me. Keerist, this is all a mess!
balzdeep
Strike that past post!

Delurking, and very louched right now--I just got the 68 Collection from FSC--Pernod 68, Emile La Blanche, and La Montanta.... I've had La Fee, Segarra, and Mata Hari so far, but find the Emile louches very strangely. I can't seem to find a ration that tastes quite right. Should I try it without sugar? Does it take less water? I know Emile is supposed to be one of the best, but it just tastes weird in comparison. I want to love it, any recommendations?
Crosby
Play with the water and sugar ratios until you find one that works for you. You'll find the others are weird tasting. Don't be afraid to throw in an ice cube or two, it will help the louche.
Crosby
Aside from the Emile, Segarra is the best of that bunch.
balzdeep
Pour in your heart, and about 3:1 iced-cold water, and you will be happy. Sugar is optional, as it is in any relationship.
Masque
I'm thinking Ballz™ is drunk.

The Emile 68 is one of the best absinthes I've tasted. Probably second on my list. I mix at 3:1 with a single sugar cube and a few added ice cubes. kimouss.gif

I'm still waiting to try my first HG, but my package from the moon should be arriving in just about a month. It is likely that my opinions on "good" absinthe will be changed forever. spinface.gif

Aye, granted. But at least one of the folk followed me up with the same dilution, proving that drunk and crazy are only a hair different.

Personally prefer at least 2 domino dots per Emile absinthe, myself. The UE Sapin is a quite nice additon, if you haven't already ordered it. Won't last long, guaranteed!!

Same here. Soon we'll be preaching the gospel of Jack. And be on the road to bankrupcy.
DrinkSlinger
What pray tell is the gospel of Jack? ...and what does it have to do w/ HG from the moon?
Masque
It's that once you go (hog)'Smack, you never go back.
DrinkSlinger
It was the liver that began that teaching.

Oh how I long for the old days.
Masque
Hell, I know that. Remember the Liver and Zouave going after me on the whole learning curve debate?

Welcome Ripper kimouss.gif and I use
an ice cube with my UE's, but I'm a
Yanker.
DrinkSlinger
I use an ice cube, or two, in all my absinthe (gasp). I like it chilled. I'm an american.

The U.E. Sapin was my first absinthe. It disappeard very quickly. It is currently at the top of my list. I ordered a second bottle, and it too is almost gone. river.gif

The Fougerolles is probably third. Sometimes I really like it, but other times that swampy (for lack of a better word) aspect seems too overpowering. Oh well...sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. I have only tried the old version, but should be getting a bottle of the new any time now.

I keep a few in my shorts too,
