Sorry to disappoint your delusions of grandeur, but I have stopped posting here due to boredom with this Forums primary posters. The fact is, the Admin’s of this Lounge act like a group of teenage thugs, hanging out by the lockers & hurling insults at whoever catches their fancy this month. The resemblance is completed by your 2 favorite female accomplices who’s only postings are to assure you of your continued cleverness. It got old very very quickly. First I watched you turn on Wolfgang, but being new, I assumed (hoped) there was some sort of untold personal vendetta being waged. Then it was Sixer’s turn (god only knows why he keeps coming back), followed by such rudeness directed at PierreVerte (of all people!) that he stopped participating in what passes for dialogue here. And life is just too short to continue wading thru “ass-peanut” postings & comments about feces-hurling in hopes of extracting a nugget of useful information.
No, Maturin is not & has never been Slake, but anyone with half a brain already knew that; you only have to see my early postings about our first absinthe experience, & compare his writing style to your favorite whipping boy’s to realize it. But hey, thinking has never been a strong suit of the ForumNazi’s. You bored him even more quickly than you bored me; his limited computer time is primarily spent on gaming these days.
There were many people on this board who’s postings I enjoyed, but it became too much effort to mine the gold from the dreck; your postings were too few in comparison to the never-ending diarrheal flood of the few. I am not trying to insult you folks, these comments are directed at the 3 Admin’s & their Greek Chorus.

If you had half a brain, you'd realize that the whole "Slake" thing is a joke. If you didn't like it when you first joined, you should have left then. This isn't a serious Absinthe Forum. It took you how long to figure that out? I figured that out my first day here.

I'm sorry to not see you around Lystie ... I enjoyed your comments and contributions to the board.
Some of the points you made are valid, others .... not so much. The thing with Wolfgang was something that was going on long before I ever got on the board, the thing with Six ... well, I don't even remember how that started, but he's a good sport about it. Hell, I'm still thought of as a puppet by some here. But you know, that's what a community is all about ... some folks like you, others don't ... it doesn't bother me one way or the other. I'll stick around and just be me until I get banned or suspended or timed out.
I can understand the frustration of wanting to glean useful info from the board, I think that's what PM's are for. Sure there's a few nuggets to be found, but I enjoy the lounge for the humor, the dry wit and yes, to even watch some insults being hurled back and forth. Just like in real life, there's more to talk about than absinthe ... I'd probably die of boredom if that was all that's going on here.
So bottom line is, sorry to see you go, and I hope you find what you're looking for. I for one, wouldn't mind seeing you post from time to time.

I think it's quite chickenshit, attacking the regulars, especially from a couple that were asking them for help about counterfeit absinthe spoons, then turning around and selling a fake vintage set on ebay. (repro glasses, that were not really absinthe glasses, toppette with an add on stopper, etc.)
That seems a bit hypocritcal.
Ask Cros about the term "burying your mistakes" in the absinthe antique hobby.

It's too bad really, I like Lystie. Like the xit slinger said, some folks just can't get into the demented fun behavior of this board or they don't understand that some xit will never be understood by most and only slightly by a few. We just roll with it and have a good time, ain't that what this place is about anyways?
Justin

There is a major split personality to the forums.
On one hand, there is the regular incessant babbling and immature xit slinging. I'll readily admit that it is frequently of elementary school mentality. But who cares? If it humors us and provides an emotional relief valve so we don't go postal at work, without really hurting anyone, there is no harm done. I have yet to see anyone dish out that couldn't take it in return. It is harmless, good-natured fun.
On the other hand, there is a very serious side to the Lounge. It mostly takes place by private messages. It is the genuine interpersonal communication. It is how I met my first Lounge member in person. I was treated generously and cordially. I hope they percieved me the same way. There have been serious dialogues about personal matters, family issues and other candidly-addressed topics. Private messages are also where deals are struck. In an endeavor that requires some subterfuge and discretion, the people here step up to the plate. The community has a sense of trust. People are also generous. Two generous people sent me small samples of things without any expectation in return. I've traded with someone else as well; someone that I'll merrily swap barbs with in public. There wasn't any talk about the value of the trade, or who would send first. We both just did what we thought was appropriate. These relationships are valuable.
It is a shame not to see the Lounge for what it is, in both roles. But you can't please everyone all the time. It would be a pathetic mark of mediocrity to even try. I think the admins and moderators have a firm grasp of the duality of the Lounge. They try to strike a balance between the two. This isn't all about absinthe and business, but it isn't a free-for-all without guidelines either. You take part in what you want, and either ignore or avoid what you don't. The Lounge is a pretty tolerant place, as long as you don't try to abuse the other members in a serious or intentional way.
That was Bucky-long, but needed to be said for clarity.

Ten Things I Don't Understand.
By DG Leadbetter
1. The "Towel" reference.
2. Oh Snap.
3. Smutty's fascination with women peeing.
4. Who started the fire ritual.
5. Six's use of footnotes on a BBS.
6. Why Absinthe isn't legal in the USA.
7. What really happened between Balz and the goat.
8. Man's inhumanity to man.
9. Why toilets in Australia flush the other direction.
10. Why people feel the need to make lists of things they don't understand.
