To those confirmed or thinking of coming this Saturday it looks to be a beautiful Virginia spring evening.
I should have the Brisket done between 4 and 5 PM. To those that need pick ups from Metro etc we can start a hair earlier than that. As soon as we have some food in us, the sampling can begin.
If anyone would like to crash overnight, we have 1 spare bed, and plenty of couch and floor space (no one sleeps on the pool table, sorry). I would like to get some idea of who would like to spend the night over, so arrangements can be made to make people as comfortable as possible.
Looking forward to it!

The professor and I will be at the Metro by 3:30 and will call you from there.
I have recently acquired a donation for the festivities, so add two versions of Nemesinthe to our list.

Sweet!
We have a couple of packages, unopened to reduce the temptation, from generous souls who contributed as well.

Do you think duct tape would keep the baby in?

'prolly. Duct tape fixes everything.

Except me if I used the duct tape. Kind of a weird paradoxical thing.

I have bad news for you folks.
It looks like I should be able to attend DCLF. So you are likely to be subjected to my presence. I'm just not sure on the ETA though. It depends on the babysitting situation.
The Mayor would like the potential babysitter, although I'm not sure whether she plays field hockey though.

WTF as in

Is going on?

Gimpy,
I don't know about any bourbon. All we had to drink was this...
Justin
Apr 18 2004, 07:12 AM
Okay.
I lied.
We didn't just have that to drink, which is good. Otherwise, it would have been a really short night before everyone found excuses to leave.
Here. This is a little better. There was more, but this is more representative.

I wanted to thank Snakehead for putting the evening together. It was a whole lot of fun. And if he ever offers to make you brisket, take him up on it. Delicious! There was enough to feed an army, so we left with to-go bags. We also had bread, cheeses, dip, potato salad, cookies, cheesecake, and some more cheesecake for good measure. We didn't even hit the reserve chips & salsa, bags of cookies or an entire applie pie.
The company, food and drink were all excellent. A special thanks to Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe for putting up with us and contributing greatly to the enjoyment of the evening.

Glad you had fun! Wish we could have made it. I spent the day and evening in a beer tent at SUNY Purchase with $1 Budweisers. I also smoked like 10 cigarrettes, and I usually don't smoke, so my voice is an octave lower now.
Was going to call Lambchop and tell everybody hi but that whole passing out thing kind of interfered with my plans. cheers!

A great time was had by all. Thanks to the crew who came out, and for all of the people who generously donated.
The burbon was very tasty by the way, a real smoky flavor. Would go great in quantity with Brisket Id bet.
And holy xit that last picture of me is bad. But I had a buzz going so its all good. I can follow up with a couple more pics from dinner later on.

You?!?!
Jesus Christ, I look like I'm completely tanked, which I wasn't. Must have been all that good food that made me look like I fell off the short bus.
Man, big big thanks to Snakehead and Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe (and Nemo) for staging such a wonderful evening. I had a delightful time and expect to see all of you again in the near future. Justin, I’m so glad that you were able to make it. Do you have another baby yet? Is it’s name Rupert?
Gimpy, the bourbon was really good. I didn't know quite what to expect. Well, actually, I was expecting rotgut. It was truly very well crafted. Very smoky on the back end, but that didn't detract from the nice full flavor. Everybody sampled it but I drank it all before we started drinking absinthe. Hey! Maybe that's why I look like a drunken retarded muppet!
Your other "products" were extremely good as well. Wish I knew what to call them.
The ADN samples were very anticipated, as none of us had ever had them. We had three (the Lyon, the Fougerolles, and the Montpellier) donated by the very generous author. I think that the Lyon was the best that I tried. It’s fairly subtle and the flavor profile is well-crafted. The Fougerolles was good too, though there is something very bitter on the back end that has to be wormwood, I think. It’s an adventurous absinthe and the first HG Fougerolles I’ve ever had. I didn’t try the Montpellier! Look at me. I was a mess!
We also had some commercial stuff, some Pignon, some Felix, two very generously donated Nemesinthes (damn, that #10 is good!) and, of course, that lovely bottle that I had my horrible photograph taken with (no…we didn’t drink any of it).

OK, the unnamed absinthe has officalliy been dubbed:

10ysinthe!
We had two different batches, and both were extremely good. Very smooth and flavorful with complex combinations of herbs. Quite yummy.
