it's not filtered before bottling...

this is why i do this -> post-6-1069831687.gif

My thinking is that the techniques used, are used, because that's how they do it.

Just like Pernot has his semi-fine technique, the folks at fudgeroll central have their individual/blending technique.

From what I understand, (please correct me if I'm wrong), LDF has very little say in the creative aspects of their distillers products. They search for the best absinthe, and the best absinthe producers. "It's hard to argue with someone that's convinced they are right..."

Never the less. I still think Fudgeroll is a "drinkable" absinthe (and I'm a big fucking snob). I look forward to sampling their version of a blanche.

I must have misunderstood . . . I thought LdF was responsible for the product development of their entire line, and that's why VdF and WF are theirs exclusively.

Responsible for contract negotiations...

Peter?

I think that if Peter could outline the recipe, and procedures, things might be a bit different. Drunk.sml

. . . as long as Petr doesn't do it. 21210-7.gif

Well, having downed a few bottles of UE68, and sharing a few of the WF and LB, I decided it's time to expand the horizons. I'm down to half a bottle of UE68, so can't wait for a bottle of HG. My bottle of Foggy Rules! arrived today and I'll be breaking the seal tomorrow night at another "absinthe and a movie" get together. The anticipation is killing me, hope I'm one of the lovers and not one of the haters.

What's up with Hans Conried, bro...

You know you're weird, right?
Hans Conried
Man, you don't know the half of it, although I am a little concerned that a LL'er called me weird because I didn't realize I was THAT weird.

Hans Conried...well, I grew up watching a show called "Fractured Flickers" on tv in N.J. in the 70's, which starred His-truly. One of my aliases to give authorities as a youth was a variant of his name, just 'cause I was goofy and so was he. I've always been somewhat of a Anglo-phile/Germano-phile, and sometimes lapse into a dime-store British or German accent, and several characters Hans portrayed had cheesy accents. I guess I just admire the character he was.

C'mon now, no one here uses their real name and photo as an avatar, other than Jack BM, of course. OK, I'm done waxing poetic, time to go sample my Fou-juice and watch tonight's feature.

Cheers, Auf Wiedersehen,
-Hans

I used to use Emmett Grogan as an alisa to the cops. It was a popular one once. I remember fractured flickers but it was in the sixties.

Thanks for the explanation, Hans...

I'm so much more certain of your sanity now... hippie_drunk_md_wht.gif wave.gif

Glad I could clear things up.

My impressions of FoggyRules: My benchmark is the UE product line standards. I first noticed a floral, almost perfume-like aroma from it in the glass neat. The louche was surprisingly dense. On the first sip I noticed a very sweet/floral quality (I used one cube), followed by a taste I'll call slightly "earthy" or "herbal?" (to quote an earlier review) but pleasant. I know I shouldn't be able to, but I swear could also detect the higher alcohol content. The buzz came on sooner and a little stronger, but that may have been artificially enhanced by my anticipation. I was thoroughly enjoying it by the end of the first glass. If this stuff mellows with age as some profess, I look forward to experiencing that.

Tonights absinthe features were firsts for me as well:
"Pretty Baby", what can I say. I can't believe this movie was a "mainstream" movie. I'm no prude, but was still thinking "how'd they get away with that?" when I saw a topless Susan Sarandon, pantaloon-clad legs spread, with a pre-pubescent Brooke Shields at her feet. Absinthe was mentioned several times, but the only time you see it is when the old Madame drinks a shot straight as a tonic.
"Cronos", a cool, made-in-Mexico variant on the vampyre story, with "Hellraiser" overtones due the mechanical contraption being the center of the activity.

Although I did feel a little guilty for thinking Brooke looked pretty in some scenes given the context, I feel much better than the night we watched "Visitor Q". Whew.

Glad you liked the Fou-Juice...

It does tend to mellow a bit with age.

Don't worry about those slight guilt pangs over Brooke...she may have been twelve, but it was like 12 going on 45...I think she's been getting younger ever since!

But rumor has it, there's this picture in her attic..........

Maybe I'll try it with sugar. I generally don't break out the spoon as I'm really not a sweets connoisseur.
