I must be careful because thuj0ne is a highly psychoactive substance.
I can feel the secondaries already.

There's AA in the coloration.

I drank some Segarra 68 on Saturday...you've gotta have pretty big Balz to stomach that bitter, palate ruining chit.

Jun 7 2004, 11:46 AM
I didn't find the S68 to be that bitter.
But I believe I was already quite drunk.
And the foulest liquid / biggest penis thing makes sense. I understand now, SB.

Yeah, I didn't find the 68 all that bitter either I actually liked it. Maybe because of my large penis, who knows.
I just talked to Eric, and told him about my recent purchase. He suggested we hold a TXLF to celebrate and have a tasting.
You up for it 1900?

The first time I tried it (a few weeks ago) - I was already toasted and it didn't seem so bad. I decided it would be my first drink, on Saturday. It ruined my palate for over an hour. Using AA in the coloration is BAD!
Sponge Bob
Jun 7 2004, 12:20 PM
Just because something whacks your palate doesn't necessarily make it bad.
Take Cuban cigars for instance. They'll whack your palate for several hours if not a day.
In general I agree with you though, while I think you can make a good absinthe with a little AA in the coloring step, I think you can make the same absinthe better if you use something else.
Of course you could never make Filterated Czeckerland Xit King of Spirits without AA in the coloring step. I think we can all agree on that.

In this case, it does.
I am not opposed to bitterness. I've had really grate Absinthe made with double wormwood that was quite bitter. Adding AA in the coloration is a different kind of bitter. A nasty bitter. Double wormwood which is distilled is a good bitter.

Segarra 68 isn't bitter in the least, Jack...ever try an Imperial I.P.A.?
I don't think you'd admit it (even to yourself), if you ever actually enjoyed a commercial absinthe, for a change.
Yes, the 68 is nothing but wormwood, anise, and brandy, on the palate...
Not a hint of fennel to be tasted, and it's not distilled using Absinthe Suisse method, but you know what?
It's quite tasty.

No, I think I made my point. There is good bitter and bad bitter. Segarra 68 is bad bitter.
YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO PUT AA IN THE COLORATION!!! Am I lost at ABG again?

I thought the point of distillation is to leave nasty-tasting components of AA behind. If you use AA in the coloring step you might as well skip the distillaiton step and just steep your herbs in Everclear!

I could soak some Wormwood and Anise in some Everclear for ya! That would get you just as blotto as distilling Wormwood and Anise in Everclear.
