Very true. At least our dear Dr. 0 has passion and has spent time researching. He's at least trying to be an informed member of the absinthe society. Not just some stupid 12 year in his mommies kitchen trying to make fiends witht he kewl kids.

I didn't read the entire thread, but the gist I got from glancing at it was that the good fake doctor objected when his posts were altered when use used terms like great, xit, CanuckyFuckyLand or THUJONE!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!.
Well, as we said before, this forum has a pecular culture, which includes word filters. Anyone who doesn't like it should not post here, or at least learn to use alternate terms.

No word filters here. No siree.
I will conceed that Dr.O's arguments were for the most part well thought out as a logical discussion.
I found it irritating that he insisted on using artists of the time (who I still maintain were drinking swill) as references to Absinthe being bitter, when Pernod, Bedel, etc state it is pleasant tasting.

Yammering, nattering nutjob. I have forgotten more about absinthe than Phil knows. Pierre does not make absinthe. I don't know Jack (not in the way you don't know jack, but I don't know the Jack who posts here), but I know some things about him, and he knows more about absinthe than you do - the things I've learned about him make that plainly obvious.
As for the book you keep misquoting, it's available in the original French. Why don't you go read it, and see for yourself who wrote what? Oh I forgot, you don't read French. I guess you'll have to take someone's word for it, then. Those who can't, slander those who do.
I stated that I wouldn't post there, so I coppied it here.
I find his selection of sources to be quite questionable. He should be looking at the sources you have translated instead.
This is not meant to be a slight at 'A Myth always Green', but more of a reflection of it as a socialogical study rather than a technical work on absinthe.
I feel that Bedel, Pernod, Fritsch, etc should be used as references when discussing the technical aspects of Absinthe.

He wasn't serious. It's part of his repertoire to seize upon any "source" as long as he can bamboozle people into believing it backs up his bullshit. As soon as he runs out of newbies to fool (which probably happened a long time ago), or someone who actually UNDERSTANDS the quoted source steps in to correct him, he shoots off on another tangent. Thus he seized upon some words of Benoit Noel, and attributed them to me and/or Pierre as "authorities". When corrected (it was only an opinion by Benoit which Peter and I never shared), he went off on the tangent of implying that LDF products are sugared, which would make them liqueurs, not absinthe extracts. He never misses a chance to insult even those he pretends to respect, as long as it suits his agenda.
