What do you think?

I do care about Dr. Scrot's rantings but, I had to vote no because he is still a Norom.

I agree, his rantings are funny, in that dipshit sorta way. Other than that, he is a noroM.

I bet this Scrot bastard is from the Land of Bogs!
Absinthe_1900
He is like watching a two year old screeching, and then holding his breath for attention.

Dr. Scrot, a legend in his own little mind. laugher.gif

He may be a wee bit reluctant to give up long-held beliefs . . . but he ain't Badger.

Which would you prefer?

When I did that, my mother used to throw ice water at me.

Ooops - I don't wanna give GB any ideas!
Grey Boy
He's good for the entertainment factor, otherwise, blah.

Are you sure you really want to use the word "thinK' in a thread on Dr. Scrot?

Very true. At least our dear Dr. 0 has passion and has spent time researching. He's at least trying to be an informed member of the absinthe society. Not just some stupid 12 year in his mommies kitchen trying to make fiends witht he kewl kids.

The absinthe stripper, on a 'cause there was always a possibility of some porn showing up.
MrGreenGenes
I didn't read the entire thread, but the gist I got from glancing at it was that the good fake doctor objected when his posts were altered when use used terms like great, xit, CanuckyFuckyLand or THUJONE!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!.

Well, as we said before, this forum has a pecular culture, which includes word filters. Anyone who doesn't like it should not post here, or at least learn to use alternate terms.
MrGreenGenes
Wasn't there a word filter to turn great into grate? Or is everyone really a lazy speler like me?
Off. Jack Batemaster
No word filter. Everyone here spells grate: grate.
Le Gimp
Now isn't that just grate!

No word filters here. No siree.

I will conceed that Dr.O's arguments were for the most part well thought out as a logical discussion.

I found it irritating that he insisted on using artists of the time (who I still maintain were drinking swill) as references to Absinthe being bitter, when Pernod, Bedel, etc state it is pleasant tasting.

He's a noroM, who obviously doesn't:

Dr.Ordinaire
Have your guys considered that voting NO in a I DON'T CARE poll means

I DO CARE?

Otherwise you would not be voting?
Dr.Ordinaire
Anyway you answer the question, it means that only a complete moron would have asked it.

That's you, Jack.
Pooka
Wow!

How divinely, how magnificently you perform these wee pirouettes through logic!

Your arguments almost make sense, and yet you craftily manage to avoid sense altogether with an adroit twist here, a cunning sidestep there.

Take that, logic, you oppressive bastard!

Pooka, I believe Ned would like you to be the next ghost writer for Bettina. You have the qualifications.

The "cunning sidestep" was the clincher.

Myself, I like to see Yammering, nattering nutjob as a cunning linguist, but there is no account for taste...
Pooka
Why, thank you, nutjob, for the sinistromanual sweet talk. You're not the first to say so, you old dog, you. wink.gif

Can I change my vote? He's becoming as repetitious and annoying as, say, Badger. Or me.

It is about natural selection waiting to happen.

One of the killers at Columbine wore a "Natural Selection" t-shirt. He and Yammering, nattering nutjob would no doubt not have gotten along.

Yammering, nattering nutjob. I have forgotten more about absinthe than Phil knows. Pierre does not make absinthe. I don't know Jack (not in the way you don't know jack, but I don't know the Jack who posts here), but I know some things about him, and he knows more about absinthe than you do - the things I've learned about him make that plainly obvious.

As for the book you keep misquoting, it's available in the original French. Why don't you go read it, and see for yourself who wrote what? Oh I forgot, you don't read French. I guess you'll have to take someone's word for it, then. Those who can't, slander those who do.

I stated that I wouldn't post there, so I coppied it here.

I find his selection of sources to be quite questionable. He should be looking at the sources you have translated instead.

This is not meant to be a slight at 'A Myth always Green', but more of a reflection of it as a socialogical study rather than a technical work on absinthe.

I feel that Bedel, Pernod, Fritsch, etc should be used as references when discussing the technical aspects of Absinthe.

1/2 a fortnight for not reading the FAQ
not listening to the warnings.

I'm sorry, but I'm applying for the position of Jack's underling. I'll get back with you if that falls through.
Grey Boy
I though my post was enough of an affirmative for a time-out.

If you want more direct, here:
Yes, give little Jr. a time-out.
A.B. Normal
Since I already told Yammering, nattering nutjob that I'm no underling, I guess I have to apply to be a minion of some sort.

And giving the bad doctor a time-out will most certainly lead to a new rant and fuel his paranoid delusions. Should be a hoot when he comes back.

He wasn't serious. It's part of his repertoire to seize upon any "source" as long as he can bamboozle people into believing it backs up his bullshit. As soon as he runs out of newbies to fool (which probably happened a long time ago), or someone who actually UNDERSTANDS the quoted source steps in to correct him, he shoots off on another tangent. Thus he seized upon some words of Benoit Noel, and attributed them to me and/or Pierre as "authorities". When corrected (it was only an opinion by Benoit which Peter and I never shared), he went off on the tangent of implying that LDF products are sugared, which would make them liqueurs, not absinthe extracts. He never misses a chance to insult even those he pretends to respect, as long as it suits his agenda.

He's so perfect(ly)exasperating, one could almost imagine that he's been a puppet, lo these long years.
