OK then, What about "Boulavogue".................
At Boulavogue as the sun was setting
On the bright May meadows of Shelmaliar,
A rebel hand set the heather blazing
And brought the neighbours from far and near.
Then Father Murphy from old Kilcormack
Spurred up the rocks with a warning cry;
"Arm, arm," he cried, "for I've come to lead you;
For Ireland's freedom we'll fight or die."
He led us on 'gainst the coming soldiers;
The cowardly yeomen we put to flight.
'Twas at the Harra the boys of Wexford
Showed Bookies' regiment how men could fight.
Look out for hirelings, King George of England,
Search ev'ry kingdom that breathes a slave,
For Father Murphy from the county Wexford
Sweeps o'er the land like a mightly wave.
At Vinegar Hill o'er the pleasant Slaney
Our heroes vainly stood back to back,
And the Yoes at Tullow took Father Murphy
And burned his body upon the rack.
God grant you glory, brave Father Murphy,
And open heaven to all your men;
For the cause that called you may call tomorrow
In another fight for the green again.

I agree that "Amazing Grace" on the pipes is probably the saddest of songs ever:
I have been in public safety for 20 years and have buried 6 friends and coworkers to that. Due to Scottish ancestry, we buried my father to that. Every year there is a memorial at a firefighters' field day for fallen brothers and sisters and I weep like a child every time. My luck is such that on my only visit to the WTC site, the transit police were having a memorial with...you guessed it...

I've heard there was a secret chord
that David played, and it pleased the Lord
but you don't really care for music, do you?
it goes like this
the fourth, the fifth
the minor fall, the major lift
the baffled king composing Hallelujah
Your faith was strong, but you needed proof
you saw her bathing on the roof
her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
she tied you
to a kitchen chair
she broke your throne, she cut your hair
and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Baby, I've been here before
I know this room,
I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch,
but love is not a victory march
it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah!
There was a time you let me know
what's really going on below
but now you never show it to me, do you?
I remember when I moved in you,
and the holy dove was moving, too,
and every breath we drew was Hallelujah!
Now maybe there's a God above,
but all I ever learned from love
is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you.
And it's no complaint you hear tonight,
and it's not some pilgrim who's seen the light—
it's a cold and it's a lonely Hallelujah!
You say I took the Name in vain
I don't even know the Name
but if I did, well really, what's it to you?
there's a blaze of light
in every word
it doesn't matter which you heard
the holy or the broken Hallelujah
I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
and even though
it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Several songs on Grace have drawn a tear from my eye many a time. The world lost a great talent when he died.
He was a nice person as well. I met him on the street once in NYC, around 1996. I told him I liked his album, he told me he liked my hair (same hairdo I have now). He was dead in less than a year.
The moral of the story: don't compliment me on my hair if you value your life.

And yeah, he was supposed to be a pretty great guy. My friend Parker was drumming for him on the tour during which he drowned and was there when it happened. He was devastated. It was very tragic.
But I hate it when people say that things like that are tragedies. People live their lives, they do something with them or they do not, and they die. And that's it. There is no mystery or secret or magic.

Maybe more fate then tragedy. His death was just too much like his father's. He tried to avoid being like his father and failed.
