Hee!
Kirk, I can so hear your voice in that bio.
Bongos, too.
Mostly your voice, though.
I'm used to bios that posture a lot
and proffer bullxit in the place of information.
The point of them seems to be
to cram as many words together as possible
without actually forming any conclusive statement
the author could be held accountable for later.
Yours is different.
It gives a strong sense of you.
I like it a lot.

The Master Model for Gertz, anyone want it?:
CelticGent
Nov 17 2004, 11:28 AM

Kirk
Nov 17 2004, 11:30 AM
I imagine he does ,

but I doubt he'll send me a bottle for it.
Sorry about the racist slur there big guy .
CelticGent
Nov 17 2004, 11:40 AM
bastard.
and
p.s. i took a couple of pictures of the one you sent me.
i received some very good samples and thought it would be a perfect time to break in the old grille. i use the old archaic "film", and have yet to develop it.
TrainerAZ

That looks like some form of torture device.
I may need one!
Film? I had some of that on the surface of the NS70 I ordered during an irrational moment.
Kirk
Nov 17 2004, 01:27 PM
Real film beats digital ,
on an atomic level ,
Digital is a different game ,
it will never be as clear as a 35 mm (or bigger) slide ,
but it has some immediate uses in the "Artificial Paradise"

hmm well.
i'm betting that kirk isn't one to discriminate.
is your stomach well enough that you could lie naked spread-eagle, or possibly kneel and make an O with your mouth?
might just do the trick and most likely will be over before you can say "uuunghherh"

OK Kirk you metalurgical genius.
How about something like this... only more ornate.
It's gotta have the swiss cross.
Crosby
Nov 30 2004, 02:01 AM
I was gonna ask Kirk too.
Green Meanie
Nov 30 2004, 05:19 AM
Oh, yeah!!
I love the workmanship in the elephant and the green man. Absolute beauty. Personally though, I'm a bit more of a "traditionalist" and that swiss cross would be awesome!

I do like the way it clips onto (down into) the glass,
probably splatters less too.
I would like to make one that does that ,
but doesn't look like that.
The problem with a lot of the older designs (for me)
is that the holes are too big ,
the sugar falls off the edge or through the holes before it's
completely dissolved.
If the sugar dissolves properly ,
there's no need to stir ;
I hate dipping a spoon in my glass.
Kirk
Nov 30 2004, 06:40 AM
Peter has asked me to make the official Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe grille ,
it will have the Fleur de lys on it ,
and will be like the grille we are discussing (clip on).
I will also do one that is like the Green Man in foliage except with the Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe logo in the center.
Has anyone else noticed the G.M. In Foliage is almost identical to the Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe N.O. label?

Now I do.
That's fantastic, Kirk.
Oscar

I used the Elephant grille last night and the sugar dissolves completely. Couldn’t ask for better function in a absinthe grille.
Kirk
Nov 30 2004, 06:50 AM
I was using my Gertz Grille last night ,
made me smile.
I think there might be three Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe grilles ,
the two I just described ,
and a third ;
third world production ,
that will be more affordable.

Damn, now I gotta go work some overtime so I can place an order for some tradin' bottles. Greenman grille and Fleur-de-lis. Price still one bottle each?
Kirk
Nov 30 2004, 09:52 AM
The Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe one will probably be an L.D.F. exclusive kind of thing ,
don't know what the price will be yet.
I will still trade you the Green Man In Foliage fora bottle,
at least until you (if you ) see it at L.D.F.
then , as with the Artemis ,
I won't compete with him.

Kirk has distilled the essence from what he has seen in vintage grilles, and used it to create his own particular style that is in one sense a distillation of the basic principles of function and art. He has produced a form of functional art that is both new and without equal in the absinthiana of his contemporaries or in the past.
