I'm going to the opera tonight .
Opera Verdi Europa is doing Giuseppe Verdi's
Aida , with full orchestration
under the baton of Italian maestro Luciano di Martino.
The wife bought the tickets for the Radford show.
My name is Kirk
and I'm addicted to public radio.

Public radio is a beautiful thing. I've never been to the opera, and have been thinking about seeing La Boheme at The Metropolitan Opera. Orchestra seats start at $95 (yikes!)...

Aida Was great , only $12 too!
Full orchestration , The costumes and set (one changeable set) were lavish , but no live elephants and camels .
I think it was subsidized with funds from the university.
Go hear live music whenever you can.

These guys rock.
Listening to their Bartok quartets at the moment. Playing no.1 in 2 weeks. One of the best chamber music experiences I've been a part of.

Most music is gay anyways. Pretty much all of the famous American composers were gay (and wrote crappy music).
Bernstein was bi.
Sondheim, librettist for West Side Story, and author of various other musicals, was gay.
Copland was gay.
Samuel Barber was gay (famous for the sad music that appears on Platoon, The Elephant Man, and the hypothetical death scene on Amelie)
Gian Carlo Menotti was gay (writer of Amahl and the Night Visiters, the first opera intended for TV) and was Barber's boyfriend.
John Cage, who has yet to be outdone in the area of avant garde music, was gay.
Gershwin never married and lived most of his adult life with is brother. You decide.
On the international side:
Tchaikovsky was forced to commit suicide over his homosexuality.
Ravel was gay.
Saint-Saëns was gay.
Handel may have been gay.
Schubert may have been gay.
Beethoven had bisexual tendencies.
Bach, on the other hand, was married twice and had over 20 children. Fucking queer.
And Jack's just jealous because I have more talent than him and Richard Simmons combined
Crosby

No, I means I'm as good as Bach. Keep in mind that you didn't hear me play when I was sober. Which I'm not now, thank god.

never heard of calling in sick?!?!
i was superfuckingpissed. i had prepaid on a hotel that was non-refundable by the time i found out that the show was cancelled. we would've just gone anyway and stumbled around niagra falls, but we were supposed to get a big storm (that didn't come until late sunday).
so the friend i was going to go with just stayed here in town and bar hopped from 1:30PM to 2 AM.
it was fun, onacuz i hadn't been out bar-hopping in a long ass time, but i'd much rather have seen the show.

I was the only one working that night,
boss was out of town, I had to open at 4 and close up around 10.
If'n I called in sick that night
I wouldn't have a 2nd job to worry about.
Though that does sound like a good idea.
I'm sure I'll get another chance soon to see the Street Dogs,
they are from here.
