I saw a preview for season 2 along with some mini-interviews with the characters and all I can say is...

Holy Shit!

This season looks freakin' awesome! If you didn't see the first season well... I'm sorry to hear that.

Seriously, with those Christmas Gift Certificates you'll be getting... buy the season 1 DVD box set and watch the damn thing.

Management says so...

It's about time that show came back.
louchefabrik
HBO has been replaying the first season--so some folks might have been brought up to speed. If you haven't been watching--too late. It looked like they finished up this last week.

Those who did--grab a glass of your favorite green beverage pour.gif and watch---Jan 6th, I believe?
Fluffy G
I've never seen the show.
Do you think Butty could be a lead character in it?
Oscar
Yeah, she’s freakish enough.

Did anyone catch the season premiere?

It was freaky and cool and dark and just a great hour of TV. But here's where I've turned into such an Absinthe wuss.

I was so looking forward to watching this, I thought I'd celebrate with some Absinthe. So I found that I had enough Serpis left for 3 glasses using about 1.5 oz in each glass.

I couldn't wait to try out my new drip fountain... it's simply a very LARGE (24") decanter with a spicket... works great!

So I settled in to watch Carnivale and had a glass. Then I had another and the show was over.

So I'm flipping through the channels and find 'The Agony and the Ecstacy' from 1965 with Charlton Heston as Michelangelo. This seemed perfect and to 'celebrate' my finding of yet another quality TV program I decided to finish off the last of this Serpis.

A half hour later...

...

...

hippie_drunk_md_wht.gif

I fell asleep in front of the TV and woke up at 2:30am.

I was planning on having a cigar... jumping on here to see what was up and having another drink of something.

Nope.

Hi, my name is David and I'm an Absinthe wuss.

Ha!

I forgot that Sampson said Lodz was half cocked somewhere on that 'Froggy Juice'.
A.B. Normal
And I'm guessing we won't be seeing anymore froggy juice on the show.
CelticGent
i didn't realize that the premiere was last night.

oops.

i'm sure they'll rerun it a zillion times though.

I saw it. Great start to the 2nd season. The part with the skin-peeling was freakalicious!

I thought it was excellent too. I made the mistake of watching the horribly written and obnoxiously directed season premiere of "24" an hour before Carnivale, and it was so refreshing to have Carnivale to switch to at 9.

I'm really looking forward to what happens next. Carnivale was slow moving at first but it's getting pretty serious now.

What I found particularly interesting was the reference to the Gospel of Matthias, which Father Justin's follower gave to him after he cut his hand. The Gospel of Matthias, which is one of the apocryphal texts excluded from the Bible, was declared a heretical text by the Church around 600 AD, and supposedly it contaied "secret" prophecies Jesus gave to a disciple named Matthias who replaced Judas after Judas betrayed Jesus. The Gospel of Matthias was supposedly lost nearly 1300 years ago, and there's only 2nd hand accounts of what it contains.

Great book. Leonardo DiCaprio owns the film rights to it and he wants to produce it soon. I think that book would be practically impossible to pull off on film though. Carnivale seems influenced by the book in some ways, though the premise in the book of parents experimenting with toxic substances to breed their own freak show is way cooler than any supernatural shit carnivale contains.
greeneyes
I agree. I can't imagine how a film could do the book justice. Maybe if Tim Burton directed and Danny Elfman did the soundtrack. I'd probably see it three times anyway. Throw Jean Reno in there somewhere and I'd see it five.
DaRabbit
I dunno- Tim Burton rewls and all, but his movies are always a bright, cheery kind of dark.

I think it needs maybe a 'Leaving Las Vegas' kind of director.
greeneyes
Naw, more of a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas kind of director.
CelticGent
alrighty, saw it last night.

looking good.

and yes, a LOT more fast paced than last season. not saying that's BETTER, mind you, because i didn't mind the last season at all.

so when is priesty gonna bang sister?

Too bad Mike Figgis hasn't really made anything that good since Leaving Las Vegas (which I would put on my top 5 all time movies list, BTW.

The director I would pick to do Geek Love would be Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie, City of Lost Children, Delicatessen, etc), or Guillermo Del Toro (Devil's Backbone, Hellboy).

i don't remember.

he's just all sorts of horny now.

I saw it last night too. Awesome. It's going to be a fast season though. I'm thinking they only shot 10 shows. We'll see.

Froggy juice. HA!

Missed last week's episode, because I was pooped.
Saw it tonight.
It's getting fun.
balzdeep
Never seen it. Drives me crazy. Makes me want to subscribe for HBO, but since the cable company says we are over 60 days due on our payment (which is HORSE SHIT! WE PAID IT AT 45 DAYS, they just don't wanna cash our checks), that ain't gonna happen. Actually, at this point, I am just glad I still have internet, since it's the same company.

Did I mention I have not seen Carnivale ever at all yet?

I never saw the TV show Abby was going to show us either.

Now I really feel deprived.

I saved a cat today.

I killed three.

I suck!
A.B. Normal
If you're talking about Thirsty Traveler, I'll send you a copy.
balzdeep
I don't even remember....still teared up from the cat that I saved....

Actually the video I was thinking of involved you, a police video, and a van, if I remember right....

Never saw that video either, but have seen enough of Butty here to fill three life-time's worth of void!!!!!!!
A.B. Normal
Ooooooh, my appearance on Cops.

I think Cros posted a still from it in Smuttty's a while back (here).
balzdeep
That wasn't at all what I was thinking about, but truly glad to see you in your prime once again. I only feel sorry for the policemen having to argue that they had to take the cuffs off before they could let you go home!
A.B. Normal
They only took the cuffs off because they knew I liked 'em.

Bastards.

Was that the one Smuttty was looking for of the girl peeing in her cell?

Sorry to say that wasn't me.
I only wish I'd thought of it first.

That's an Ohio State Deputy's car. I'm not surprised.

Oh, I'm digging Carnivále, by the way. I finally got caught up last week; we watch it at a friend's house who has that "cable on demand" xit.
Rimbaud
Yeah, Carnivale is really good this season. Much of the first season was just the set-up. I'm also looking forward to Deadwood coming back in March...
Rimbaud
This week's episode was fucked. Among other plot developments (which I won't devulge at this time since it'll ruin it for those who have not seen it yet), the cute little blonde chick asks Jonesy to stick it in her arse. Boner TV™, indeed!
CelticGent
i had a full 4 inch hardon when fingernubs went for the midget's cockmeat.

Management = Gollum

The butt-fuck scene was teh h0tTnez.

All I could think during the sex-in-the-truck scene was: "Damn; you know it fuckin' smells nasty in there."
Le Gimp
I saw an interesting segment on Deadwood on the History Channel. Interesting little town that was. Right in territory that belonged to the Indians, so the US Govt didn't give a flying Fuck what went on there. It looks like the movie is the very early years of Deadwood before the big mining businesses set up.
CelticGent
hey gimpy.

we was talking about ass-fuckin & midget sex.

there's really no need to bring up westerns.
