Great album or not, Marilyn Manson's attention-grabbing antics have transformed him into a boring parody of himself.

I think the world needs a satanic David Lee Roth.

It may not be a valid reason but I was judging the artist's work based on the artist himself. Let's just say that his music has more impact if you believe that he's actually inspired by a dark force and not just some gothic clown with funky contact lenses and mannequin tits.

Black Sabbath had some great music too but it's not quite the same after seeing Ozzy doddle his way incoherently through that damn TV show.

I have always liked his music. Who cares what "he" does? I still have Michael Jackson's Thriller, and could not give a shit about him as a person.

I like some of Manson's mumblings; they're fun. I wonder what Bowie, Iggy, Alice, KISS, and GWAR think about his staying power? Where is GWAR?

Considering the images that Michael Jackson and Marilyn Manson portray for themselves in the press, who would have thought that Jacko is actually more of a public menace? Whatever Manson does onstage or off to get himself in the newspaper, he'll never challenge Jackson's ultimate freak status. However, he might be able to knock GWAR out of the top 10.

Actually, I think you are thinking of the Temple of Set, which broke from the Church of Satan for those reasons, and others. Basically, Anton LeVay wanted to create a money-making scheme, and used his 'Church' as a front, but he did have a firm belief in Satanic occultism.

Set, and the other 2 breakways (which have far longer and harder to remember names, heh) wanted to be real religious and occultic research societies.

LeVay (and Marilyn's 'fellowship' with him) are a scam, but I'd wager they both have some stupid, sick Satanic beliefs.

i have read a LOT of what he wrote, and although sometimes "stupid", he didn't come off as a "kill your children for satan" type of guy.

he was a con man. he gained money and power through his "religion". that idea has been used from the beginning of time. he was just more creative in the way he presented it.

i think that all of the other religions are MUCH more "evil" than he or MM have ever thought of being. the last time i checked, the COS or MM haven't killed millions in the name of religion. that to me is MUCH more wicked than Lavey's COS or Manson's bullshit shock-rock.

What the hell is goth anyway? Lately the "goth" label means a pale teenager that wears lots of mascara, baggy black clothes and claims to be a witch, satanist, ect. (insert chosen cliche).

When I was a goth kid, we didn't call ourselves "goth." We didn't call ourselves anything. Other people used to refer to us at "bat cavers." Whatever that means. We wore mostly tight clothes, not baggy, except for puffy shirts - I suppose you could call that baggy.
