I suppose I'm looking for advise.

For my first Absinthe experience, I ordered two bottles of VdF. I figured I'd order two just because shipping is a killer, and it's really better to order two. So, I got my first two bottles (I was amazed how fast the flying monkeys got them to me!) and used a small, fine flour sifter to hold regular, granular sugar as I poured cold water into my glass over the VdF and ice. It worked ok, I guess, but I really didn't enjoy it so much at first. I was still waiting on a cheap Absinthe spoon I'd ordered on ebay. Once I got my spoon, and bought some sugar cubes, I began to figure out how to mix them to my taste. The more I did this, the more I began to enjoy my VdF. The more I acquired a taste, the less sugar I needed.

I nursed the two bottles of VdF for a few weeks, and found that, after I ran out, I began to taste it in my mind...and I craved more. (Is this the start of a new addiction?) But, I had been reading what other people seem to like, and the Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthes were highly recommended. It was tough to justify spending that kind of cash, but I splurged and bought a bottle of NO and the newer Edouard. I wasn't too fond of NO, but Edouard was ok. I really don't like either as much as the VdF, though. Those lasted awhile, and I finally finished them.

I'd also read that a lot of people seem to like BdF, so my next order was one VdF and one BdF. After trying the BdF, I wished I'd just ordered two bottles of VdF. I don't care for BdF at all. It was probably the hardest, of the four types I've tried, to choke down. Needless to say, I won't be ordering anymore NO or BdF. I would like to try the VS, though.

Now, I just placed my fourth order for two more bottles of VdF. I really like that stuff, for some odd reason. Knowing a bit about my taste, what would you suggest I try next? Obviously, nothing is really comparative to the price of VdF. I'm surprised I like the cheapest stuff the most, so far. Money isn't too plentiful for me right now, so I suppose I'm thankful. I may not be able to afford any more for awhile, but I figured I might as well plan ahead, right?

Y a might even try that Montmartre, I did and was surprised a bit. It is decent in my book. Which is of course the book I read most often.

Have you tried it? What about Libertine? Is that any good? How is Alandia? I thought they weren't really considered a good source?

I've placed at least half a dozen orders with Alandia and have had no problems.

I'm betting nobody is as quick as LdF, though? That's the only place I've used, so far.

Mike is cool. At alandia I mean. He will answer you if ya email him and he has decent products for sale. He sent me a bottle of German korn with an order, and that was before he even had korn adertised on his site. You can indeed trust the vendors you see here at the lounge and at fee verte as well.

Libertine is o.k. but the 72 is a better than the 55. In all honesty they are both drinkable in my opinion. But there are better Absinthes available, yeah they cost more but, there is a reason for that. But Libertine is drinkable, at least to me.

Cool. I'm glad I have some guidance. Maybe one day I'll find something I really adore. Right now I'm jonesing for my VdF, though. Hopefully, it'll be here in three days, like the last time.

Try the Montmartre. And at some point try one of the Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthes. Hell, I still like Segarra, but only the 45 version. And in all honesty, if you want an absinthe that is decent, at least in my book, that won't break th ol bank, try the 45% Un Emile.

That would be www.absinthevertrieb.de Markus was around even before Mike at Alandia was. And Markus has a the good price on Un Emile 45% I like it. It is not as el funko as the Un Emile 68 Is. That is a personal opinion and anyone that wants to disagree is noted. I have always liked the 45% over the 68%. For Un Emile, and I much, much , prefer Segarra 45% over the 68% ... Damn, I sound really old!

That does sound strange to prefer the lower proof, but I suppose it does allow the flavor to come through a bit more. I'll be curious to try some of the lower proofs. I definitely see a bottle of Un Emile 45 in my future. You do have 10 years on me, after looking at your profile.

If you like the VdF you'll prolly like the Montmartre.
