I just read in this mornings paper that he had passed away. Johnnie Johnson is best known for playing piano with Chuck Berry during the 50's and 60's. Many music historians consider him to be one of the important influences in the early development of rock and roll.
I had the pleasure of meeting and playing with him about 2 years ago. It was at a festival held in his honor in his hometown in WV.
RIP
Grey Boy
That's sad.
All the innovators are passing away.
At least we got to live in the time they produced their works.

Edit....Just read that it was Johnson that invited Berry to join his band.
Berry then took it over.
