Clandestine La Bleue Swiss absinthe
Our newest release was made possible by the re-legalization of absinthe in Switzerland of March of this year. Along with opening the door for established distillers to broaden their product lines, as has been seen by our addition of Kübler 53 and Kallnacher absinthes to our catalogue, this law also gave clemency to previously illegal distillers, who are now free to bring their products out of the dark corners and into the open market.
We present Absinthe ‘Clandestine’ which is an authentic ‘la Bleue’ made in Couvet, Val-de-Travers, the birthplace of absinthe. Its creator Claude-Alain Bugnon was the first clandestine distiller granted
legal status by the Swiss government this year. For years he had been responsible for a certain quantity of bootlegged absinthe that brought so much attention and status to this small region. His ‘Clandestine’ has been and is still considered by many to be the best Swiss la Bleue available today. After tasting several re-legalized la Bleues that had come out of the closet at the 2005 Boveresse Absinthe Festival, we had to agree and made arrangements to make it available to our valued clientele. 'Clandestine' is as fresh as an Alpine meadow with bright anise, floral and wormwood aromas, with a touch of honey in its refreshing, long finish. For those searching for the best source of the legendary, original la Bleues, go no further!

Was this La Bleue known as something else when it was underground?

How "clandestine" is a legal product? Isn't it what Markus has been selling for some time?
