Sounds like 1968 all over again, in miniature.
Or life imitating art, if the recent film "The Dreamers" was popular enough.

As of yesterday, the rioting had gone on for 9 days.
It's like a Louche Fest without the moshing or cross-dressing.

So, it’s just a big hen party over there?

Goddammit! I'm going in six weeks. I hope there's something left.

No, hardly a paranoid hen party.
I really shouldn't make light of it.
That's just a nasty habit of mine.
I can't concieve of 9 days of rioting,
let alone the barbarism of setting a crippled 50-year-old woman on fire.

According to the AP,
QUOTE
Rioters in the southern city of Toulouse set fire to an empty bus Monday evening, then pelted police with firebombs and rocks, an official said. A 61-year-old man died of wounds sustained in the spreading violence, the first fatality in 12 days of civil unrest that has shocked the country.
***
The new violence came after rioting by French youths spread to 300 towns.
***
As urban unrest was reported in neighboring Belgium and Germany...

Just wait. Bush will say that its part of a widespread terrorist network.
I think the earth is getting ready to shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

And I can't even comment on the first article. It sickens me. Prolly not for the same reason it sickens some of you though.

No. It would just turn into some type of manifesto-like rant that will end up with me hermitting in a log cabin out in Idaho or Montana or somewhere like that and I don't like the cold that much.

Why is it always Idaho or Montana, or places like that?
Does the cold breed discontent?
I would be deeply interested in the Loogie Manifesto.
Alas, some other day.

Not the cold,
it's the loneliness, boredom, and lack of anything else to do.
Give me a city with twisted fucks and strange people
to make me feel normal.
Out in the middle of nowhere I'd prolly lose it,
though I'm thinking of trying.
