Or at least stays in the center.

QUOTE
An anti-Republican sentiment spread across Northern Virginia yesterday as voters overwhelmingly cast their ballots for Democrats, sweeping aside the traditional Virginia formula in which Republicans carry the outer suburbs and Democrats win the inner ones.

In winning the election for governor, Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) took Loudoun and Prince William counties, something Mark R. Warner (D) couldn't accomplish when he was elected governor four years ago. Kaine also received nearly three in four votes in Arlington and seven in 10 in Alexandria.

Discuss.

Good. I knew that was coming. My Aunt & Uncle live in Chester, which is pretty conservative, but this time even their neighbors voted Democrat. Ha ha. I guess the rope the Republicans were given last election was more than enough to hang themselves with. Granted the Dems are pretty good at doing the same thing, but at least it looks promising for next years congressional elections...

I'm just happy to be living in 7/10ths liberal Alexandria.

Prince William county is a bastion of the sub-urban redneck, I was stunned to see them swing Democratic. Loudon Likewise.

Hope your favorite cadidate made it.

Don't feel too triumphant, it's still the unregenerate South...

Eventually the Conservative Democrat will rise again, out of the ashes of the Republican weenie roast.

Actually, nothing changed. The best candidate on the ballot was Leslie Byrne for Lt. Gov but she lost to a repug.

I voted LL for Mayor...

Still waiting on the results.

That's right up there with Dover, PA kicking the "intelligent design" people off the school board.

"You aren't in Kansas any more, motherfucker!"

Sorry, some little part of me that has been oppressed for a long time has been desperately wanting to shout that.

I jumped back in my seat on that one Faustus!

Oh... hiya!!! wave.gif

Hi, Digits! wub.gif

Yes, that's very uncharacteristic for me, but sometimes the "MF" just has to come out.

This new verte I'm trying couldn't possibily have anything to do with it...
1888
Hmmm... I'd place $50 that the new Verte might have just a little something to do with it!

It's been well documented here that when I'm on the hooch, the big old, crazy-ass liberal comes out and terrifies everyone.

(Well, I'd like to think that it's terrifying but more likely it's just ignored.) wacko.gif

Correct, nothing changed. We had a centrist Dem as governor, and we still do. Much better than the alternative, who was pretty far out on the right wing-tip.

We did pick up a few seats in the Virginia legislature, but not enough to make a huge difference.

Something that actually DID change, is Mark Warner is now even a stronger candidate for the Democratic nomination. What I really want to see, is anyone decent, that is strong enough to keep Hillary off the ticket.
Selmac
Amen to that.
jaded prol
I don't want to see Warner run but Hillary would make me Ralph!

The problem is the woman just has no charisma. Like she's less charismatic than John Kerry, and he's less charismatic than a coma patient. She's a decent senator and I usually agree with her, but she's unelectable.
1888
So then a Kerry-Clinton ticket (which is what I envision) would be political suicide...
Absomphe
Bloodier than Tim Roth in Reservoir Dogs.

roflmao.gif ... funny.

Here ya go Faustus. Say goodbye to Dover...
