I'm sure everyone got the email. Poor old UE has been overshadowed with all of the new offerings of late.
" Whilst many absinthe drinkers appreciate Un Emile for its delicate and subtle flavour, some people found it lacking, so we were naturally pleased when the new owners of Les fils d’Emile Pernot distillery informed us that they wanted to improve the formula.
...the anise/wormwood profile has been lightly enhanced, which has also improved the body, overall aromas and louche-effect."

I just can't talk myself into buying a bottle.

I could... if it would just go down to around $75.00 including shipping.

Well... I take that back.
If I read this right, then a bottle of UE 68 shipped to the US would be - $64.00???
Is that right?
Maybe I'll revist this in a day or two.

I checked on ordering a bottle of the new UE68 and one of Sapin for the holidays, and it came to $170 shipped Stateside. Just the UE68 was $93. This is after the 10% discount, which is shown on the checkout page.

I had the opportunity to try some of the new Un Emile at their distillery in Pontarlier. It is a definite improvement on the prior product. It appears that the new owners are at least willing to listen to product improvement suggestions. If they were still to add some more anise and wormwood, they would give Ted's absinthes a real run for the money. With their equipment, and Peter's guidance, this is a real possiblilty.

If it can't compete with Ted's mediocrity, then it aint worth the bling. I'd buy a bottle for if it sold for mmm.... $35

Now you're sounding like Dr. O. There are hardly any word filters left. Since it pissed you off, I removed the last Jade one, leaving only the ones relating to our neighbors to the North and on the continent.

In other words, are you saying that additional anise and wormwood would offset the problems from using the semi-fine method?
If they were to abandon adding neutral spirits after distillation, I'd buy a bottle.

I was speaking more from a taste perspective. If they were to abandon the "semi-fine" method, and up the herbal content, it could be even better. Nows the time for the new owners to step up and really make a good absinthe. They have the facilities and equipment, and are in the right place. It would be great if Peter could use some Divine influence and get them to make a really world-class product. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Shitcan that ugly bottle for something more traditional.

I've always had a soft spot for UE 68 since it was my first absinthe. I'd like to see them turn out a first class product.

I had just cracked pen my first botle of UE Blanche two weeks ago. I wasn't all too impressed. For the price, I think I prefer L'Amesinthe more. Im still waiting on the Kubler & Clandestine to try those, however, especially since I got my Frenchman fountain this morning (YIPPIE!!!)
