From what I heard the Brut d'Alambic was pretty good, and that's CO. It's tough for CO absinthes to be at these events, mainly because anybody can buy them, but the absinthes at louchefests are much more difficult to acquire and so everybody is more interested in them.
I remember I brought a bottle of the new Emile 68 to the first New York Absinthe party, and there were only two HGs represented (well, actually 3, but the 3rd one was undrinkable), and nobody even got around to opening the Emile, and that was the best commercially available absinthe at the time.

There were at least 2 bottles of HG at the last Allentown LF that remained almost untouched, while the Jades, Kubler, and other assorted CO's were emptied.
I agree that it's tough for the average CO to stack up against the average HG, but there's crap and excellence on both sides of the fence.
The best part of throwing a LF is the unwritten rule. All left over absinthe is the property of the host (except in the case of slimy little weasels that take "samples"). Unfortunately for Liver he always attracted the biggest drunks, and was seldom left with more than a gigantic pile of empty bottles.

Yes,.. the Brut d' Alambic was pretty nice, as it stands now it's one of the best commercial absinthes I've tasted.
