But terribly down...
I lost my grandmother (whom I was very close to) a few days ago and I just can't shake it.
She was was born in Poland, moved to Paris, France when she was 16 (1924) got married / had 2 kids / relocated to the south of France when the Nazis invaded in '39 / moved back to Paris when my Grandfather was released from a Nazi prisoner camp in '43 / had another 2 children (my father being 1) and then finally moved her family to the US in 1957... my father was 11 at the time.
I'll miss her.
My drinking has been:
A very delicious mysterious blue bottled HG which reminds me of Grimms Fairy Tales... A lot of Sweet Vermuth (My Grandmothers drink)... Some Patron XO Cafe (Coffee / Tequila Liquor)... Wine... and some shit called 'Absinto Camargo'... it's from Brazil and it tastes a lot like La Fee. I found it locally for $40.00.
I hope everyone is doing well!

Your Grandma sounds like an amazing lady. It's too bad she's gone. My great-grandma will probably be heading down that road shortly.
Sounds like you're dealing with the loss in a way that honours her and is good for yourself. When you're done with that bottle, go out and smash it in the street. The sound of breaking glass can be oddly therapeutic at times like this.
I like how black mothers mourn. They fucking scream, yell, flail around, wail and convulse with sobs until it hurts. Gotta get that shit out somehow, that's certainly an effective way of doing it.

... good idea CG!
She was a 4'9' dynamo!
Just a couple of days ago, I was told a story by my uncle of how she survived the Nazi bombing of France. She took her two kids and
walked from Paris to the South of France... mostly during the night... and stole veggies and eggs from farms along the way to feed herself, my aunt and my uncle.
It took her 31 days to walk from the North of France to the South.

and most of us today whine if we have to park an extra 50 feet from the mall.
let's raise one to her the next time we meet.

That's an amazing story. Sounds like she lived the equivalent of several lifetimes.
Cheers to your Grandma.

Yeesh. I remember your sharing thoughts about about your grandmother more than a year ago now. She sounds like she must have been a very admirable woman. I'm very sorry for your loss, dear.
