was well fed-sweet jeebus!
got 1200 page kick ass Italian cookbook-odd considering I don't have a working oven
got kick ass convection toaster oven-makes above gift make more sense

Get together with my family at Red Lobster (Carolina Dreaming had no power for three days) turned out to be pretty good. Everyoen had a good time exchanging giftes. We drew names last july 4th and only bought one person a gift. It was probably the best get together we had in 10 years.

Back home,

SIL and DIL in to visit. - OK.
MIL and FIL here - OK, nothing new there.
Daughter came for dinner - ok
DIL, two kids, and her boyfriend came for dinner - ok.

Two Pair of Levis 517s and a box of chocolate Turles. - Ok.

I cooked (Ham, Sweet Potato Cassarole, Biscuits, Broccoli and cheese, Ambrosia, Pecan Pies, Banana Pudding, .....) OK onakuz I like to cook.

Overall it was a pretty good time. I'm exhausted from cooking so much.

Today I worked on my smoker, which is just about ready.I'll use it to cook the New Years day meal.



In addition to the Christmas day meal, I cooked a traditional(??) Channaukah dinner on the 26th. Matza Balls soup, Latkes, Chicken rolled Schnitzel , Sufganoit, etc.

I'm tired of cooking.

Got an Xbox 360 from the (ex)wife - nice surprise
Went out and saw a terrible blues band Xmas night - painful
Got drunk to see if they sounded any better - didn't work

Was given a pill to take by a fellow barfly (blonde nurse). Afterwards she told me it was Prozac, and it would make me impotent for a week - Boy was she wrong

Spent the rest of the holidays working, and enjoying a new friendship with a Hooters Girl - energizing (but do I qualify as a dirty old man, now that I'm seeing someone 14 years younger than myself?)

If not, I'll promise to try harder.

friday - made eggnog, cleaned ice out of driveway, had dinner with the outlaws.

saturday - had father outlaw over - he brought a 12 pack, he and i sat there and drank it, he left & i started drinking my spiked eggnog.

sunday - drank wine, eggnog, & bourbon all day. stupid wife made an appointment for 8AM monday morning, so i had to get up....did not drink too much. had my parents meet me @ sporting goods store so father could put the exercise machine in his truck and help me carry it in the house & upstairs. could barely walk before i busted my ass carrying the thing...couldn't walk afterward.

woke up yesterday, unable to walk, went to the dr's to find out it was achilles tendonitis & get painkillers.

other stuff: pocketknife, watch, small leg lamp (woot!), red stapler, 12-pack of blue light (that was immediately drank by me & FIL), $, gift cert.


all in all, not too shabby.

Went hiking and rock climbing xmas eve. Barfed on the way up.

Consumed a mysterious substance Xmas day. Whee!

Came up to MA to see an old girlfriend.

Prolly NY & Slate in a couple of days.

I got a Markus repro fountain, a new bridge for my Fender Jazzmaster, some boxers with poker cards on them, tickets for some skateboard competition in May, a lottery ticket that won me $5, the Hitchcock Box Set (!!!), a bunch of shirts that didn't fit, and a Mario Batali cookbook, which is probably the most useful gift out of all of them, and a pair of white tube socks, which I threw out the next day.

Now I'm watching the Twilight Zone Marathon on Sci-Fi channel.
