August gets my vote as page three bird of the year.

Maybe it's the lavendar that's so reminiscent of MM #24.

Wierd. My friend literally just now gave me a 1946 copy of John James Audubon's The Birds of America.
Absomphe
But somehow appropriate.

The birds were so much sexier then, what with young Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, and Bettie Page scampering about.

That freaky chick was into dead people.

"I think Owls are great!"

of all the modern day "raptors", i've always liked hawks and eagles with owls coming in a very close third. for years(10+) i've been seriously interested in falconry but never really had the time (it does require a large amount of time and record keeping) but i had the money, i was even offered an apprenticeship (which takes 2 years) but turned it down because of my job... now i have the time but not the money.

This little guy landed outside my kitchen window a couple of summers ago.

Modern day raptors? As opposed to, like, extinct raptors or what?
Hans Conried
Well, if you're gonna open it up to those, I saw one of these in the backyard the other day...
2loucheltrec
modern day as in descended from (so... not extinct, just evolved).

from wiktionary- raptor- bird of prey, A carnivorous bird that hunts for its food, especially one that preys on vertebrates.
