I live where Lynch was born, the first lynching supposedly took place about 1000 yards from here,
at least that what the locals keep telling me,
now that I've lived here awhile I believe them.

I'll come home soon.
And you and Prol and TGO and 2LY and Hans will make me feel better about the fact that I'll never be able to afford to live there.
You'll tell me tales of steeple chases where people tailgate in Lexus SUVs with full silver service. And tales of boys in khakis and blue blazers walking Corgies. And I'll remember why I moved out West.
And then we'll go to the Shenandoah and kick a little white trash ass.

I had a picture of Gen. Wm. T. Sherman prominently displayed in my car just to piss off the white trash passengers when I used to work in our East End. I also would flaunt the fact that my Great Grandfather Jake was the First Sgt of the NY 2d Artillery(Heavy), and they shelled the crap out of that very same area some 140yrs ago. Here's an interesting conversation starter: " Hey! Didn't my Great-Grandfather and his Army kick the shit out of your Great-Grandfather and his Army?!"
I'd like to think Jake was proud of me.

Ok, Kirk, I'm lost.
Was lynching named after a person?
Or was there someone named "Lynch" and it all went downhill from there?
My AP History class never covered this.

Hmmm....funny you should say that. DC will have more Police than at any other time this weekend, for Police Memorial Week. Sunday is the LawRide, so there will be several thousand cops on motorcycles riding through town that morning.

Ethiopians aren't very tastey - they're quite grizzly and don't have much meat, while Americans are well marbled.

That would be very funny if it weren't true.
As, I was leaving the hotel this morning to catch a train back to my truck, someone decided today was his/her day to step in front of one of the Metro trains, and they closed three stations.
Other than the extra bus ride, complete with my bag and a pair of wormwood plants (thanks Kirk), the entire weekend was a great success.
Can't wait to do it up again...
Cheers

Who the F**K is Syphil-ish?
Thanks TGO for putting it together, and especially for wearing that shirt. Otherwise I would have been back at the hotel finishing this conversation:
Hotel Clerk:"May I help you?"
Me:"I'm supposed to meet a group here, they're supposed to be in a mini-suite"
-"We have alot of suites, give me a name and I'll be glad to it look up"
-"Um, I don't know any of their names"
-"Well, what kind of group is it?"
-"Um, well, they're here to see an art exhibit"
-"You don't know any of their names???"
-"Um, no, I met them on the internet"
Clerk laughs at me. I walk out .
Thanks everyone there for the good time.
