Like most things Lounge related, no one is really in charge. The Mayor is always in charge of social functions, kinda like a cruise director. I believe it was slated for April 18, 2004.

I was thinking the other day...
I really have little to offer. I have not moved to New Zealand, so cannot help with refreshments... Not a lot of cash, so I probably cannot help with refreshments at all. I was feeling like I was going to be a big fat absinthe moochmouse. SQUEAK!
But wait... there are people flying in... people who need a ride... and I have not been in a taxi for a long time, but it will be really expensive to go anywhere as Seatac is 11 or so miles south of Seattle, and my instincts tell me it will be held north of Seattle.
Anybody need a ride? THAT I can do, earn my keep. Yeah, it is a free event... so what. I want to help out where I can.
Who's flying?

The theme from the last party seemed to work well. Bring what you can, do what you can. There are many who have the means of bringing several bottles, and they will. Some people might pitch in to sport a bottle. Others just bring themselves and a keg cup. It'll all work out. No worries.
...and yeah, FNG's are always welcome. But they have to know the secret handshake.

Now how does this work? I'm all for trading samples, but if I try all the samples I'm interested in, I'll be flying too high before I could get very far.
Is it like wine tasting, where you have oonly a small amount of what you're trying? Will the owners be mixing the drinks and then pouring a few sips with into people's glasses?

No, it's more like a party, where a bunch of people get drunk and act goofy. The only difference between this kind of party and other kinds of parties is that the booze is a lot better.
I didn't try everything that I wanted to try at LF03, but I did try a bunch of stuff that I hadn't ever had before and/or that I wouldn't be able to get on my own. And I sure did get shizzled.
(Of course, there is also something to be said merely for meeting the other folks that share this strange hobby, and picking the brains of some of the really knowledgeable folks who will be there. I learned more about absinthe in two days at the Mayor's Mansion than in 4 months of hanging out in this place...)

I assumed as much, you all talk about the extra bond brought on by beign able to look each other in the eye's. As an FNG I am very much looking forward to attending one or both of the events.
As for the handshake, I guess I'm screwed then right? Hope its not a variant of the Australian Handshake/The Cuff Club handshake, I hear that ones makes you walk funny. <wink>

My approach was to have a glass of everything I wanted to try, and then go back for 2nds or 3rds of the really good ones. Did I mention the fact that I was up drinking 'till 8am?

i drank half-shots of a LOT of choices. if i could have, i would've tasted everything there, but there was NO fucking way that could've happened. so i tasted the kinds that i knew i might never be able to taste again.
i still ended up drinking enough to kill most normal people, but luckily i didn't hurt myself too much.
