Of course, "fuck you ociffer" is the only answer in tune with the TONE.

The TONE died out here, along with sobriety.

I certainly am not! I just happen to enjoy sleeping under the table like this! hippie_drunk_md_wht.gif angrysoapbox.sml

Be patient, Jack. The results only reflect those of us who have been sober enough to find the keyboard yet.

Its flame is still burning in my heart, so it's dead no longer.

greeneyes
Maybe it's just something you ate.
A.B. Normal
Lack of alcoholism is what makes this place boring.

And for the record, I'm a drunk, not an alcoholic.

Why fight history. Drunk.sml

Define Alcoholic.
Off. Jack Batemaster
You.

Hmmm. That's what my wife keeps saying.

Sobriety lives. I've given up drinking to make the Lounge less boring.
A.B. Normal
Yeah, I really think you're doing it backwards.
TheGreenOne
Not the first time, won't be the last.
Off. Jack Batemaster
I'll hafta say, I haven't been able to tell a difference.
jaded prol
I've given it up too . . .

The difference between being a drunk and an alcoholic is that you don't have to attend any meetings! kimouss.gif
greeneyes
So many lies.
Off. Jack Batemaster
So true.
SnakeHead
I consider myself a functional alchoholic.

When (if) I can no longer get it up, I'll cease to be functional.
A.B. Normal
Let's be clear.
Alcoholism is defined as alcohol dependency.

Which is not to be confused with alcohol abuse.
And that's really a misnomer because it's not the alcohol that's being abused so much as my liver.
Slackjaw
Someone misspelt ocifucker.
TheGreenOne
I fought against the bottle
but I had to do it drunk
Off. Jack Batemaster
Actually, you're wrong. They've recently redefined the meaning of "alcoholic." You don't have to be dependant anymore...
greeneyes
What do you have to be?
Kirk
I think it has more to do with the reactions you get
(from the alcohol)
Off. Jack Batemaster
Djirk is partially correct...the recent definition of alcoholism is when alcohol affects your life in a negative way and you allow it - there doesn't have to be any chemical dependancy. B'lieve me, I argued with my ex-shrink on that one....

Your shrink is livin' in psychobabble land. The above is 1 good indicator but not difinitive by any means. Say your wife is against drinking at all and gives you hell for having a couple of beers a week, does that make you an alcoholic?

Say you were followed coming out of a bar (set up as it were) by a cop who was watching the joint and gave you a ticket for driving with a .08 BAC -- you wound up having to go to ASAP classes. Does that make you an alcoholic?

Say your basement is loaded with aging booze, you make your own beer and are obsessesed with booze spending most of your time hanging around in bars or online alcohol posting boards AND continue drinking even though it's had negative effects on your life (loss of jobs, marriage . . .). OK, in that case, you are probably an alcoholic.

There are also many examples of successful peope who are/were alcoholics and have not suffered negative consequences.

Now if the above is true and you have also had "blackouts" and the shakes, you qualify as an alcoholic as opposed to a social drinker or even an abuser sans dependence.
Off. Jack Batemaster
I don't really drink anymore, rummy.
jaded prol
Have you invented a new term for it or is the operative term really?

Me, I drink a glass or two about 4-5 evenings a week and if anything, it improves my quality of life.
Absinthe_1900
I'm just hoarding booze since I'm allergic to cats.
jaded prol
I'm allergic to 'em too!

and children!

The conversation with my ex-shrink was about you.

Your ex-shrink comes in a bottle (ooops, there goes confidentiality)!
Absinthe_1900
A shrink?

Why do you need to pay someone to tell you what you think.
jaded prol
It was probably the booze talking anyway.

You make it sound like a bad thing.
Off. Jack Batemaster
I fired that ex-shrink, hence the "ex" part...
jaded prol
Good move. Better to spend the money on booze anyway.

Ok, so my liver which now appears to be "mildly increased in it's echogenecity suggesting fatty infiltration" does not qualify? Good.

I feel better now.
Crosby
Think how much better you'd feel if you stayed the fuck away from Doctors.
2loucheltrec
i'll drink to that!!
SnakeHead
I aint gonna drink no more.

Unless I am by myself,

Or with somebody.
