Well, sort of.
Caption Competition
After the runaway sucess of the last one, as promised we’re running another caption competition!
Born in 1834, Degas' innovative composition, influenced by photography and Japanese woodblock prints called Ukiyo-e (Japonism), his skillful drawing, and perceptive analysis of movement made him one of the masters of progressive art in the late 19th century. He is especially known for his paintings of ballet dancers and other women, as well as of race horses. Often considered an impressionist, some of his work shows classical and realist styles, and other times romanticism.
L’Absinthe created a storm when it was exhibited in London in 1893, all the more when it surfaced that the woman depicted, taken by all to be a prostitute, was in fact an actress, one Ellen Andrée, and the uninterested man beside her an etcher called Marcellin Desboutin.
Send your captions for Degas' L’Absinthe to degascaption@LaFeeAbsinthe.com and the winner picked by the judges & announced in next month's newsletter will receive a bottle of La Fée Parisian Absinthe as well as a pair of absinthe glasses and an absinthe spoon.
