P. Duplais? I've never heard of this one. (Not surprising really.)
It does mention absinthe though... Perhaps he would send someone a scan of the whole section? There's only one page up.
I can probably translate French if no one else will.

Absinthoman,
I was eyeing that glass, but didn't bid, because I was going to buy it to use it. The small reservoir at the bottom would be a pia to clean. Still it's very cool, if I were a collector I would have placed a bid. Have you been to Oxy's site? He has a few of those blown reservoir glasses on there.
http://www.oxygenee.com/absintheGLASSES2.html(edit: Aww hell, I was wrong, your glass is on page 1 and isn't a reservoir glass. Duhh)
I see that the Duplais book went for 153 euros.
There is another, older book up for bid now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...gory=34192&rd=1The way I figure it, that book being up for bid, lowered the interest in the earlier one. I'll bet that the second book goes for more than the first. Currently it's 77 euros, I'll bet it goes for over 200.
We'll see.

I saw it yesterday when doing my daily looking on ebay and this one his the 1867 version. The other one was an 1858 edition so...

>Absinthoman,

i hope you aren't talking about this one, if you expected an authentic vintage glass and not one of the repros frenchman sells now:
>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ViewItem&item=3258014192&category=3269&rd=1
we'll now be seeing alot of these on eBay without any mention of whether or not its old (except by phiL, who comes clean on these things and why he has 'repros' and not 'fakes')...
nice glass, from what i can see, but hot from the oven...

Well hell,
I need to keep a picture of shinolla near my computer when I'm on ebay. The photograph on the auction looked as if the glass bubble under A-man's east glass were hollow and a reservoir.
I'm sure Absinthoman is much more astute than I am and wouldn't be fooled by one of the Frenchman's repro Pontarliers.
(Actually I'm hoping he'll come down in price in the next couple of months, then I plan to buy a couple.)
I'm going back to shutting up now.

It's not the pontarlier repro that phil's selling. It's an east vintage glass!!!!I know wich one you're talkin about. I known that it was a repro so I bought the east one.

hey guys, I had a serious idea this morning!!!For all of us who are interested about Duplais's book. Maybe we could build a section about it in the lounge with a password and it could be a sort of collective funding to buy one Duplais's book for everyone who paid the collective amount. One admin could buy the book with the funds, scan it and post it in this section!!!!

of view of information it was a good idea whereas I you consède that
side collector, it is not a good thing. In my opinion, us should all
contribute to help to make best the possible wormwood and not to keep
all these things secrètes!!!!Ce is not because it is known how a
piano functions that one is able to play about it well!!!

The amount of storage space required to do that would be ENORME, monsieur!
The book is 2 volumes, that are something like 500 pages each. There's really no reason to post just the absinthe section, as it's not markedly different from Bedel. The real value in DuPlais is the detail in which various distilling methods and equipment are described.
