Man, I'm here. I'm ehre every Saturday night.

NO! I didn't say I have no life.

I just spend it between the computer and the garage.

I'm taking up metalbanging for a new hobby. It makes lots of noise and I can take out my frustrations without damaging much.
absinthoman
Good to c ya around here tonight bro!!!
Raindog
You are a rock Gimpy. By the way, how is the rebuild going?
Le Gimp
I'm waiting for warm weather to pull the heads. Tomarrow is supposed to get up to 46F. HEAT WAVE!

I hope to pull the heads after church.
Buck Turgidson
Hey, I'm here. I was out planning an overthrow of .... well let's see how things turn out.
Not to worry, I just got home and I'm just checking in. No long winded discussions on my mind.

Hello, Le Gimp, 2loucheltrec, Felis Catus, Raindog, Oxygenee.

I just got back from LOTR Fellowship extended version at the theater. My kids really like those movies. I told them, instead of buying more junk presents for Christmas, We'll spend the next 3 Saturdays together. Hanging out, eating out, video games, whatever, and catching the 2 extended LOTR movies plus the "Return of the King."

The Lowes Cinema in Pittsburgh (about an hour drive) is the closest that's carrying the extended versions. It's down by the waterfront area that has a lot of things to do. I'll still end up spending a shitload of money. Why go out shopping for Christmas presents alone when I could be spend the same amount of time with them instead.

Oh well, I got a little long window, but in tribute to LE Gimp, I won't spell check it.

Thanks for the hello.I've had a taste for that nitrous oxide lately hippie_drunk_md_wht.gif .

Blue Velvet and LOTR.You have quite far-ranging tastes in cinema.

Mr Lynch is my favorite director-have you been
to The City of Absurdity website? All things Lynchian.
Or is this The City of Absurdity?

Once I went to see Henry and June and
the re-release of Fantasia on the same day.

I really do. However, the kids are a bit young for "Blue Velvet."

Some movies are just fun to get lost in a story, like LOTR. Plus, I can enjoy it with my kids. I watch a lot of movies, covering a wide range. It's actually hard work finding suitable movies for children. Part of what makes LOTR a good story is that, even though it is plainly a good vs. evil movie, there is still some characters that struggle.

I'll let them watch rated R movies like "The Royal Tenenbaums" and discuss and answer there questions, before I would let them watch a movie full of potty humor. I also tend to keep them away from Disney movies, some are fun, but I don't want the kids growing up with "black and white" ethics.

I have a pretty good collection of Japanese Ghibli films that the kids actually prefer to Disney. Hayao Miyazaki is an animation genius, if you haven't seen his work, start with "Princess Mononoke." If you don't like subbed movies, this movie does have a decent dub.

In general, I prefer independent films and directors like Lynch, Gilliam, and Coen Brothers. But, I have a nice home theater, and it's fun to watch a movie that takes advantage of it.

I'm just about to log out and watch "Stranger than Paradise" right now. Came from netflix today. Jim Jarmusch directs "This original avant-garde black comedy about three slackers on a self-discovery road trip to Florida."

A bit ago I got off the phone w/Peeps, Kallisti, Peep's buddy Mara, Cros and Head Prosthesis, live from the Absinthe Bar in San Francisco.
A good time was being had by all and I think pictures are in the offing.

That's where the hell they are.

Well now that's a coincidence ... I was looking through the pockets of my trench coat and found the biz card to absinthe.

Strange, but true.

You sound like a good dad with a sound mind and values.
Not only are Disney movies full of black and white
values, many of them are downright scary or tear-jerkers,
at least for kids.Lots of poison, people going into comas,
and madwomen out to make coats out of spotted doggies.

I agree you might want to save Blue Velvet until the tender
years are past.Much harder to explain than The Royal
Tenenbaums(I loved that movie.)

I have heard of Stranger Than Paradise and Princess
Mononoke.Maybe I will give these a try.

Right now I have a DVD player and VCR player, but am
working with a 13 " CRT.It is either a new TV for christmas,
or absinthe.I can pull up a chair closer to the screen
and sip as well,or I can get a big TV and forget the sipping.
I think I will go with the former.I will depend on those
"secondaries" to make the viewing process clearer and
brighter. Drunk.sml wink.gif

You are all a bunch of freaks.Do'nt worry, I have no
arguement with freaks.I love everybody scared.gif wave.gif

AWESOME.
Their Coq au Vin is the best! Lavender Creme Brullée is also to die for.

I hope somebody threw a brick through the glass case by the men's room that has an old bottle of Hills in it.

I can vouch heartily for the cassoulet. Between the scrumptious vittles, the tasty, minty cocktails and, most of all, the scintillating company, that was truly one of the most enjoyable evenings I've spent in a very long time.

Head is photoshopping out the food from between my teeth.

Un momento.

Sounds like a good time! Me,
Shoveling, shoveling shoveling.....
70 foot driveway, 3 times, helping neighbors who
park in the street shovel out
(I'm a sap, but got a bottle of wine and a bag full
of cookies and muffins for it)
and shoveling again tomorrow morning,
if my back doesn't hurt more than it does now.
And, I've been too sore and tired to try my new bottles of
Gentiane, Sapin, F. Guy, and Kubler....
Overall a fun weekend!
Hope everyone else had fun!
Miss_Liquor
Brrrrrrr. And it is 58 here.

Finally stopped drizzling the first time in 10 days though and we got the xmas lights up.
Grey Boy
What I would do for 58 right now.

My mum-in-law called early this evening to rub it all in,
"You got a lot of snow! I just put a sweatshirt on because it's 62 here
in Daytona!" vtffani.gif
Le Gimp
38 here. It never borke 40 today so I stayed indoors, expept when shopping for groceries.

I'll try to work on the car tomarrow after work if it is warm. Supposed to hit the 50s.

I think they've been delayed, but my friend snapped this one of me back at her apartment. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the image, causing it to be curiously obscured. She's reassembling it for me with her nimble, little dovelike hands.
greeneyes
Success! She has just e-mailed the corrected image. It is really not the best photograph, but then, I had been drinking all night.

it was 6 degrees when i got up today.

it's a balmy 10 degrees now, though.

but the good news is we only got about 6 inches or so of snow this weekend.

i know people elsewhere had snow dumped on them. for once we lucked out.

good stuff...

So did (in the same vein) "Spirited Away" (or "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi" if you prefer).

Probably the greatest kid movie I *ever* saw.
Felis Catus
Sancho-Was'nt that The City of Lost Children?

I have a friend who thinks A.I and other Speilberg movies are
kids movies because they have kids in them.Well,I can maybe
see E.T,but A.I?Did you see it? Remember the "lover robot"-
"after you've had a lover robot, you'll never want a real man again."
David the robot child begging "mommy" not to leave him?
The flesh faire? "My brain's falling out"-David.

Good wholesome R rated fun for the whole family.
sancho
i don't think i've seen 'the city of lost children'

but, if it has a similar storyline i think i will...

Hey no fair! You're using a photo of Yitzhak (Miriam Shore) from HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH! That's one of my favorite movies (altho the stage show was even better; Maturin & I saw it at least 6 times). Here's another photo of Yitzhak, along with Hedwig.
lysistrata
Here's the same character (Yitzhak, on right) in her drag persona (actually this is how Miriam really looks, the character of Yitzhak is a drag queen that is usually played by a woman so that there will be a high-voiced back up singer in the ensemble).
greeneyes
Oh, I am majorly busted! laugher.gif

I figured someone would identify Miriam Shor. I like that movie, too, Lystie. OK — real pics in a sec.
greeneyes
Here's where the hell I was — spending a memorable evening at Absinthe in SF with the inimitable Miz Kallisti and her Prosthetic Head...
greeneyes
...and getting to know Cros, which was a joy in itself.
greeneyes
My girlfriend came along. She had a bang-up time. We used to be bad girls together, back when we were kids.
greeneyes
The Mayor honored us by joining the party via remote. Will the real Peeps please stand up?

Damn, that was a blast.
