NO! I didn't say I have no life.
I just spend it between the computer and the garage.
I'm taking up metalbanging for a new hobby. It makes lots of noise and I can take out my frustrations without damaging much.

Hey, I'm here. I was out planning an overthrow of .... well let's see how things turn out.
Not to worry, I just got home and I'm just checking in. No long winded discussions on my mind.
Hello, Le Gimp, 2loucheltrec, Felis Catus, Raindog, Oxygenee.
I just got back from LOTR Fellowship extended version at the theater. My kids really like those movies. I told them, instead of buying more junk presents for Christmas, We'll spend the next 3 Saturdays together. Hanging out, eating out, video games, whatever, and catching the 2 extended LOTR movies plus the "Return of the King."
The Lowes Cinema in Pittsburgh (about an hour drive) is the closest that's carrying the extended versions. It's down by the waterfront area that has a lot of things to do. I'll still end up spending a shitload of money. Why go out shopping for Christmas presents alone when I could be spend the same amount of time with them instead.
Oh well, I got a little long window, but in tribute to LE Gimp, I won't spell check it.

I really do. However, the kids are a bit young for "Blue Velvet."
Some movies are just fun to get lost in a story, like LOTR. Plus, I can enjoy it with my kids. I watch a lot of movies, covering a wide range. It's actually hard work finding suitable movies for children. Part of what makes LOTR a good story is that, even though it is plainly a good vs. evil movie, there is still some characters that struggle.
I'll let them watch rated R movies like "The Royal Tenenbaums" and discuss and answer there questions, before I would let them watch a movie full of potty humor. I also tend to keep them away from Disney movies, some are fun, but I don't want the kids growing up with "black and white" ethics.
I have a pretty good collection of Japanese Ghibli films that the kids actually prefer to Disney. Hayao Miyazaki is an animation genius, if you haven't seen his work, start with "Princess Mononoke." If you don't like subbed movies, this movie does have a decent dub.
In general, I prefer independent films and directors like Lynch, Gilliam, and Coen Brothers. But, I have a nice home theater, and it's fun to watch a movie that takes advantage of it.
I'm just about to log out and watch "Stranger than Paradise" right now. Came from netflix today. Jim Jarmusch directs "This original avant-garde black comedy about three slackers on a self-discovery road trip to Florida."

You sound like a good dad with a sound mind and values.
Not only are Disney movies full of black and white
values, many of them are downright scary or tear-jerkers,
at least for kids.Lots of poison, people going into comas,
and madwomen out to make coats out of spotted doggies.
I agree you might want to save Blue Velvet until the tender
years are past.Much harder to explain than The Royal
Tenenbaums(I loved that movie.)
I have heard of Stranger Than Paradise and Princess
Mononoke.Maybe I will give these a try.
Right now I have a DVD player and VCR player, but am
working with a 13 " CRT.It is either a new TV for christmas,
or absinthe.I can pull up a chair closer to the screen
and sip as well,or I can get a big TV and forget the sipping.
I think I will go with the former.I will depend on those
"secondaries" to make the viewing process clearer and
brighter.
You are all a bunch of freaks.Do'nt worry, I have no
arguement with freaks.I love everybody

I have a friend who thinks A.I and other Speilberg movies are
kids movies because they have kids in them.Well,I can maybe
see E.T,but A.I?Did you see it? Remember the "lover robot"-
"after you've had a lover robot, you'll never want a real man again."
David the robot child begging "mommy" not to leave him?
The flesh faire? "My brain's falling out"-David.
Good wholesome R rated fun for the whole family.

Here's the same character (Yitzhak, on right) in her drag persona (actually this is how Miriam really looks, the character of Yitzhak is a drag queen that is usually played by a woman so that there will be a high-voiced back up singer in the ensemble).
