Brut d'alambic is definitely my favorite.
The Blanchette is #2 on my current list.

Just to avoid getting the eerie feeling you're channeling me, I *had* to make the Bovet La Valote my choice.
I'm finishing off my bottle of BdF74 by giving friends samples, just so I can get a Brut d'Alambic without angering the Mrs. (too much).

It's all about expectations, to some degree.
I was told the La Valote had a "high wormwood profile."
Not so much, especially compared to the Brut d'alambic.
And, as it turns out, I've gone from Fennel Whore to Wormwood Coont.

I can't enjoy drinking the BdF anymore.
I'm getting rid of the rest by adding a small shot of it to glass of Campari and soda.
It's flavor works well in that mix.

That was *way* too much information.
Just as a bit of extra information: all the people to whom I've managed to give a sample bottle of BdF (because they like it) are female.
This, combined with my general experience with females, makes me doubt the veracity of your claim.

I don't think the Blanchette is Burnt the same way as the others. A bit of caramel in the flavour, but not as objectionable - and the wormwood makes up for that.

significantly different? no, because old protocols are not necessarily bullshit but,
based on taster's comments:
grande and petite absinthe > a little more, for the coonts
génépi > double (its expensive so it has to be good, right?)
fennel > all florence (as opposed to 3/4 florence and 1/4 local, which has more fenchone than an aborigine's armpit)
tails > well, yes, now, 'cause it's hard to get tails on the first date.

Session with the Dutch HGers, each attendant allowed multiple points:
Blanchette 4
La Valote recette Martin 3
Artemisia Clandestine 2
Brut d'A 0 (especially without sugar. The fennel certainly isn't as fruity as it should be, and even less good than in the Blanche de Fougerolles, especially if you don't add sugar).
I think everybody liked the Blanchette because it was so different from all the Bleues, and a lot less funky than the Jades (and apparently with much better A. absinthium, unless Ted does improved his source very recently or something odd happens to it in the Jades).
Elixir du Pays des Fées was also OK and balanced, but La Valote Martin is a bit like the same absinthe but with all flavours doubled. It unanimously lost to the La Valote, even for those who don't like the some of the other La Valotes.
