There's a cult built around restoring old Dynaco/Hafler amps
Hafler amps are lousy, I see them fail or have inconsistent gain pots all the time. Old Haflers are great though and worth restoring.
Bryston amps are killer.
For solid state.
Greenone knows what's up. Once you hear tubes it's hard to hear it any other way.
When you listen to one of your favourite songs on good tubes, I guarantee you you'll hear something in the song you never heard before.
I can't handle the audiophile lifestyle though, it's too high maintenance and OCD, and so much about the gear that the music is often forgotten.

The old ones seem bullet proof, theyl withstand a 10 amp direct short.
The new ones weren't made by Hafler, he's dead so. . .
I get the impression all the "DH" series are original and all the SE, LX and Iris are the new crap, is that right?

I saw "Drumming" performed live once. It was performed in very reverberant space so it turned into a big blur. Amazing.
For those who don't know, it starts with one drummer playing a very simple rhythm on a tuned bongo. Then another drummer starts in quietly but slightly out of sync with the first drummer, then drummers 3 and 4 follow, also out of sync, and it creates this very bizarre phase shifting effect where the blending of the rhythms result in a weird pulsing moving mass of noise.
