There's not many Christmas shopping days left.

So what's at the top of your list?

For me, it would be a bottle of 1897 Pernod Fils in mint condition.

Howz about youse?

DG
Crosby
Just a small stocking stuffer. From Oxy's site:

Now that IS sweet. I'm afraid to ask what the price is....

Finding one is the major problem. Finding the money would be comparatively easy.
Absinthe_1900
I'll take a set of four. drooling8b.jpg
Absinthe_1900
The one I'd like to have, is the Reed & Barton spoon.
That is the first and only American spoon that I have seen.
I remember when it turned up on ebay.
Aion
That one would be fine for me.
Sigh!
Aion
Or a pair of these lovely (sounding) units,
almost as rare and difficult to obtain as these spoons.
And please, do not ask for the price river.gif

You know we have to ask.

Aren't those the speaker thingies you find at Best Buy for like $15?

Pfft....

OK, I warned you.

I found one source offering these tweeters in the USA
Accuton

I would ONLY have to pay about 60% of that price,
but... alas....

I'd like to have a set of Klipshc K-Horns. But then I'd have to move the computers out of the den to make room for them.

My ears aren't good enough to bother.

That is a lot of skydives, bottles of absinthe, or other worthy things I could buy.

But to an audiophile, I suppose that would be worth it. More power to you.

I was only teasing about the Best Buy thing.

The Klipschorn is a real American classic.
Good choice. The ultimate fun speakers.
But way too big for me.
And I donīt 120+ dB max. spl.

We had an audiophile in our neighborhood.

He brought a whole new meaning to the word earmuffs.

Of course a fountain, or Marc's Tour Eiffel spoon would be nice to find under the Xmas tree, but what I'm really hoping to see (Maturin: listen up!) is the complete DVD set of UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS. That would keep me happy for a very long while.... yes1.gif

Yeah, I know. I'm still wondering what the hell I wrote, too. Give a cowboy a break, huh?

I's 6:40 in the morning here.

I don't need 120 dBspl either, but driving them with a simple push pull amp with a pair of 6L6s would kick ass. They really sound good if set up in a room with two unobstructed corners.

As is, I'm content with my HERESYs. Had them since 76 and they are still fine speakers.

We should open a "stereo hole" in the sandbox,

I'd like one of those as well. That's long been one of my favorite absinthe spoon designs...

I'd like the Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus DVD box set, a pre-ban absinthe fountain, a case of BaMa absinthe, and a kazoo, and....

If you can wire them on to my Edison, I might buy a pair.

Nice Edison, 1900! I've been wanting an old Victrola for some time now, but I can never seem to find the extra cash. So where do you find the cylinders for that beauty? Are they expensive?

"A well-hung hippo makes the ladies go flippo!"
Larspeart
Happiness.
lambchop
They say that?
Hmmm...

(edit....oops. This is referring to Rimmy. Lars, you beat me! and no, not this bondage.sml )
CelticGent
i'm crossing the hippo off my list.

one wish- That the mayor gets to keep his crib & Asta. yes1.gif
lambchop
Good man, CG. Me too. I give up all wishes for a pony and transfer my wishes to HizzHonor.
Asta is cuter than a pony OR a hippo.

The machine that I have, 1906 Edison Standard, (picture) 1917 Edison Amberola 50, 1918 Columbia Graphanola, 1924 Victor 270, 1927 Edison Diamond Disc.

The black wax cylinders hold surprisingly well if handled properly, price depends strictly on song title, anywhere from a couple of dollars to over a grand.
On the average I've paid about $20.00 to a high of $50.00 for wax.
For the Blue celluloid Amberola cylinders, anywhere from $2.00 to $75.00 for mid to late 20's flappers music .
Brown wax, (the earliest ones) are hard to find in good shape, and tend to be more expensive.

My number one want is a French Edison brown wax cylinder, "Fee Verte"

Is it possible to off topic an off topic thread?

Speak your mind, follow your thoughts, this is the louchelounge! It's always been a freefrom display of verbal diarhea. I wouldn't have it any other way. kimouss.gif
Larspeart
oh, can I get two wishes?

No stones next year. Not a single damn kidney stone.
Felis Catus
I can't narrow it down to one.

A bottle of Fougerolles.A bottle of Un Emile Blanche. Two lovely spoons.
Two lovely glasses.(All of these so I can bring my friend Celia out
of her usual winter blues.)

Glad tidings for The Mayor.Glad tidings for everyone having
a fuckyou.gif holiday season.(and no stones for Lars,or any of you
men-folk.)

An anolog synth,keyboard,and piano lessons.

A Peruvian Paso horse and the money to care for it.(Yes, I like horsies
but only to ride in the traditional way-on the back!)

A real kitty.

If I have to pick one, a better holiday season for The Mayor, complete
with mini-manison,Asta,and a new Christmas tree (decorated with vintage
absinthe spoons;I think that would be pretty.)

'"Cynical" kitty.
