I'm over it myself and have reached the conclusion that Zionism is antisemitism. Firstly because Arabs are semites (moreso than Jews) but primarily because the actions of Israel and the blind loyalty of it's supporters has consistently created and increased animosity toward Jews globally.
Still we must remember that it is the US which plays the tune to which Israel dances (we underwrite it and supply it) and we are held accountable for their atrocities. So when Bush rushes bombs to Israel and Condoleeeeza goes there and calls the destruction of Lebanon "a new birth" it doesn't make them love us . . .

Hezbollah wanted this war, they always have. Why do you think they kidnapped the soldiers in the first place? So now they have their war, and Israel has played right into their hands, and now they've got pictures of dead children so they can say to the Muslim world "See, Jews are baby killers". Obviously that tactic is working.
Ask yourself this: Would you rather your country be controlled by Hezbollah or Israel? They're both bastards, but given what sort of theocratic oppressive rule Hezbollah favours, Israel looks like the Summer of Love by comparison.

Instead Hezbollah has gained power and support. They could also have agreed to realease some of the many kidnapped Lebanese in their prisons in exchange for the soldiers as they have done in the past.
The root of anti-Israel sentiment in the region is the brutal oppression of Palestinians and that continuing policy of occupation and ethnic cleansing creates enemies for Israel (and us). It also empowers and strengthens radical fundimentalists. Without the context of misguided Israeli intransigience, Hezbollah would not have the influence it has and most of the other countries in the middle-east would opt for friendly relations for economic reasons.

Were we supposedly trying to rid the area of Al Qaeda and Funky Bunch? Yes... and in the eyes of millions that was a noble and just cause.
I just never agreed with the US policies and I certainly don't see Al Qaeda as a better option... I don't feel like I have to pick a side here.

What concerns me the most here is that we're going to use this as a vehicle to Iran, Syria or both.
Coincidently, a couple of months ago, they raised the enlistment age to 42 which means I could now be subjected to a draft and it should come to no surprise to anyone that if we get into it with Iran or Syria, there most likely will be a draft.

It seems that our mainstream media is focusing on the Lebanese casualties and not the Israelis, though the ratio is somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-5. (Lebanese dead to Israeli)
So I found that this morning and the Hezbollah tactics are deplorable, they really do fire from civilian locations.
It doesn't excuse Israel from taking out the Lebanon’s infrastructure in some attempt to starve the country, but I do see how difficult it is for the Israelis to fight.
