California is full of them.
AB 352, sponsored by Assemblyman Paul Koretz (D-42), would require after a certain date that the make, model, and serial number be microstamped onto the interior surface or internal working parts of all handguns in such a manner that those identifiers are imprinted onto the cartridge case upon firing. Handguns that do not include their identifying information would be defined as “unsafe” and their manufacture, sale, and transfer would be a crime.

Why?

That is the question.
I think it is just to make it too complicated to sell guns in CA. If the manufacturers don't want to deal with the BS, you don't even need to ban guns.

What about the poor bastards like me who have a vast arsenal of valuable handguns that aren't so marked. I'll have no way to sell them legally. Now I have to use them for something or they'll just go to waste.

The law probably applies to new handguns, you don't have to sell yours. Old and out of state handguns will probably increase in value -- street value anyway.

HA! That is right up there with banning a gun because of the way it looks.

Next... they’ll require all rifles to have barrel plugs that would cause the rifle to blow up when fired.

You make it sound like that would be a bad thing?
