But you know, I'm sooo Old EuroFuckyLand, so I'd have preferred "Sycophant".
OTOH, that latter word is much more in tune with feeverte.net's style, so if Kallisti's other personality is reading this...

I think sycophant is better too. And more appropriate.

Aren't they more or less synonymous?
I'm genuinely interested.

I'm also genuinely interested in which influential persons I'm supposed to have flattered over here (or who I'm supposed to have denounced): I try my very best to be as irreverent as possible (unless when using the

emoticon, that is).

Meaning in no way to burst your bubble, 'Hanger-on' is one of the stock titles that come with the board, ala 'FNG' 'Regular' etc. You get a new one of these titles every time your post count kicks up a notch, which must have just happened to you. You don't get these titles if one of admins (usually Hizzonr) have seen fit to bestow some kind of individual title on you.
So no prostration is necessary yet.

They're different. a hanger-on is someone that sort of trails around in the back of a gang of people, usually not saying much (for fear of being noticed), and in generla, just kinda being there.
A sycophant is the same thing as above, but with a 'little bitch' element. They are the 'yes-mans'. Think Elvis' 'Memphis Mafia'. They serve no purpose, tell Elvis how cool he is all day long, but really, they are just sucking Elvis dry, spenind his money, and being cool vicariously through him.
That's a sycophant.

I get the picture.
Sniff -- that's almost "Mostly Harmless" :(.
Well, Baabaadoc since burst my bubble, but Lars, thanks for the compliment (i.e. saying that sycophant was more appropriate - at least that's not Mostly Harmless).
