It beats you over the head (and over again) with the message, but it's a good message.

Since the screenwriter was the guy who wrote and directed Crash (Paul Haggis), I assumed it would beat you over the head again and again with an after-school-special message.
I'm not sure what the message could possibly be, but going to take a stab at it, here goes: The message is that in war, there is a human cost, and we need to appreciate that cost, and not let the larger mission overshadow the human sacrifice.
Is there more to it than that which would require me to actually see it? Nothing wrong with that message, just don't need Paul Haggis to tell me what I already think.

The message is more about how the political/business establishment exploit the troops. I though the movie should have been way more subtle. The it was pointed out to me that the film was made for people who voted for Bush.

It's nice that someone trying to make a statement with the aim of changing someone's opinions nowadays. Seems most of what's out there is aimed at preaching to the choir.

It does sound interesting, even though I'm the choir.

I doubt they'd even get the heavy handed delivery of the message.

A heavy handed dope-slap would be more appropriate.

I don't understand what any of the posts in this thread have to do with "Fags of our Fathers"?
