Not being officially launched until 2007

We are delighted to announce the first absinthe from our new extra superior collection is now available on line. Be one of the first to experience our La Fée X•S Suisse, a wine based absinthe from the birthplace of absinthe: Couvet, Val-de-Travers, Switzerland.
La Fée X•S is classified as an amer, which means it can have three times the amount of thujone as that of a 'normal' absinthe.

La Fée Absinthe X•S Suisse

Extra Superior absinthe was historically distilled using a high proportion of herbs, including wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and a wine alcohol base. For our premium La Fée X•S range the importance of those methods, along with sourcing the best distillers in the historical homelands of absinthe, were paramount.

The Val-de-Travers

La Fée X•S Suisse is produced in the small town of Couvet in the Val-de-Travers region of Swizerland and it is here absinthe production began in 1792. Time was spent creating a recipe to reflect those top quality absinthes of the 19 th century and the whole distillation process is carried out by hand and monitored closely to ensure consistency throughout. The finest aromatic plants, including locally grown wormwood, along with a grape alcohol base are carefully distilled in small quantities creating an absinthe that is highly elegant and perfectly balanced.

La Fée X•S Suisse gets its unique characteristics from the high proportion of herbs used.

Coming soon: our second La Fée X•S absinthe – La Fée X•S Françiase, distilled in Pontarlier, the homeland of absinthe, by a 4th generation distiller using original 17th century stills.

I like the name: "Excess" -- in that "if you look closely enough on the bottle, we've actually printed a pun in big fat letters, telling the world what a sucker you were for paying as much as you did for it" way.

XS,

"using original, 17th century stills"
Those are really old stills, I wonder what they were originally used for?

Errr ... thank you. Glad you didn't say effluence.

Am I missing where it says what the volume of the bottle is? I assume 700 ml, but the price would be even more outrageous if it was 500 ml. Also, I wonder who the distiller is, and whether it is simply a repackaging of an existing product.

There are no 17th century stills in Pontarlier.

Based on the information in this product announcement, the initial release is made by Bugnon, and the Pontarlier version will be made by Guy.
absinthespoon
I figured the Suisse was probably from Bugnon because of the blue bottle. If Guy is making the Pontarlier version, there's really no reason to even be tempted to get a bottle out of curiosity.
Grey Boy
I wasn't tempted from the start.

17th century stills is the silliest thing
I've ever heard or seen.

They're "original"
Oscar
They're fucked in the head.
