Hello All:
I am currently the newest member of the forums and just wanted to say hello and intoduce myself. I'm still pretty much a newbie to Absinthe, having only tried it for the first time about two years ago. I fell in love pretty quickly though and have tried about 30 different ones since then. A couple of years ago, I went home to New Orleans to visit my folks. I was at my uncle's house ( dad's oldest brother) We were playing dominos and he mentioned that he had some absinthe. Since I had always wanted to try it, I did. Did not really know what I was doing but seemed to remember that one was supposed to mix it with sugar, so I did. Now having learned a bit more, I do think what he has is pre-ban stuff and I plan to appropriate the remains of the bottle on my next visit home.
In parting, I must say I am glad to have found LouchedLounge.com and look forward to participating in the forums.

So your uncle was generous enough to share some pre-ban absinthe with you and now you plan to "appropriate" it . . .

Wouldn't you?
I wish Oxy was my uncle. Or, even better, he could just adopt me.

I found it in my great uncle's basement. He doesn't want it, and it's too many bottles for me to personally consume... so I figured I'd share it with y'all.

Hmmm, did not say anything about connections, only that I first tried absinthe that my uncle has and I think it was pre-ban. Most of my family comes from New Orleans/Lafayete/. I graduated form college at University of Louisiana in Lafayette, LA though I was born in Tokyo Japan. I never said I knew Ted Breaux or anything like that. If when I get this bottle, I have no intentions of trying to sell it nor sharing with anyone other than my lady.

Well, lets see. I once bought a La Bleue from the Desert Dwarf Hobbitroll. $225, but I paid her $230 to get an extra label. I was really disappointed with the label. Basically an image that was probably a copyright infringement printed on a blank sticker and sold to me for $5. Alandia Mike always hooks me up w/ extra labels, postcards, matches, posters, and has even done some minis. the Desert Dwarf Hobbitroll's La Bleue (Farmer 10, she says) is fantastic, and while quite costly, I know of no other way to get one and I would probably buy another from her, but would certainly skip the extra label.

Buying from Betty doesn't make you tough skinned, but it does make you naive; as many of us were.
The best part about this place is that we refuse to shill for anyone, vehemently attack purveyors of shitty asbinthe and expose rip off artists... that and the porn.

Since you already buy from Alandia, check the Swiss absinthes by origin page. I recommend the La Valote Willy Bovet.

Farmer10 is actually the code name for a secret project to make Americans trip balz. The substance in Farmer10 has undergone successful animal testing and is now being tested on human subjects.

How do you define "real La Bleues"? The La Valotes are real, as is the Clandestine. Are you looking for stuff that's still made illegally in a barn?

Gads, remember the days when Butty and a few other shady *cough* (wolfie) sources were the only way to "la bleue".
Newbies take note. The stuff you can buy from Markus, Alandia, LDF and many other legitimate EU businesses is the same exact shit we used to hold in such high esteem 7 years ago.
Now you have choices, and many of them are far superior to the spanish oil mixes the masses of us "old folk" used to depend on for our balztrippin fix.
ps. anyone want a full liter of Huguet? I've still got it... maybe I should send it back to Kallisti and Head.
