The Cars -- Drive.
Everytime I'd be driving my drunk-ass home without hooking up I'd blare this song screaming the lyrics the entire 30 miles home. The parents always wanted to get me in trouble for drinking but were afraid to say something due to the tears rolling down my cheeks when I'd finally get there.
OK, not really, but is a good sad-song.

"Wild is the Wind" sung by Bowie.
"Like the leaf clings to the tree,
Oh, my darling, cling to me
For we're like creatures in the wind, and wild is the wind"
Obviously not the words (penned by Dimitri Tiomkin and Ned Washington) but their relationship to the music. And I don't have a girlfriend right now.

I pop on Billy Joel or Chicago after break-ups a lot. Those seem to wallow in the same depths as I feel at those times. Or Air Supply (you know you listen to them too).

I can't pick just one, so here's the Sad Song Link-o-Rama:
Faded Flowers by Shriekback
Berlin by Lou Reed (anything else on that album is great too)
King Arthur by the Mekons
Hallelujah (by Leonard Cohen), I Keep a Close Watch, Andalucia, Chinese Envoy and numerous others by John
CaleAfraid by Nico (off her Desertshore album)
Losing My Religion by REM (still not embarrassed to say I like it)
Arthur McBride, as sung by Andy Irvine (not really such a sad song, but there's something about his delivery that does it)
The Wind That Shakes the Barley, as sung by Dick Gaughan
Song For Ireland, also sung by Gaughan
The Lakes of PontchartrainThere Were Roses (by Tommy Sands)
